I read several feminist websites — “feministing.com” [which is slightly more mainstream] and “iblamethepatriarchy.com” [which is freaking ridiculous] particularly — and have run into this BS before. Its actually kind-of amusing to read at times — they get so angry over Super Bowl commercials and gender-specific pronouns, and are SO silent on other more pressing concerns for women.
Occasionally its kinda sad — you’ve got to feel sorry for people that are so angry for so long. Most members of these sites are EXTREMELY disturbed individuals ... makes you wonder what happened in their life to send them so far off of the deep end. From what I can tell, most of them have been raped, assaulted or abused by a prominent man in their life (father, husband, boyfriend, uncle) which has driven them to “radical feminism” (their term, not mine).
They blame all of society’s evils on the “patriarchy” which is the “system of male oppression” which is ubiqutous and ever-present (kinda like the Matrix, I think). It asserts itself through all men, and some women (pretty much any woman who is conservative, Christian, or at all conforming to gendered stereotypes ... so beware women who like heels, skirts, children, marriage, the color pink, or men). The patriarchy is all around us — in the wars we fight, the government we elect, the entertainment we pursue, and the relationships we have.
“Patriarchy”, best I can tell, is the conglomeration of anything and everything that any feminist anywhere decides she needs to bitch about.

Another confirmation that any university level cirriculum described as “[insert noun here] Studies” is more accurately, and dare I say, inclusively, described as “Grievance Studies”.
They don’t care about the words. They are radical wackos who really are convinced that there are no sexes (they say genders). They really think that there is only one kind of person and that “gender” is a fluid, flexible, changeable thing. They have convinced themselves that a person can easily move from one “gender” to another.
Obvious facts do not convince them.

Looking at it another way: Women get their own pronouns. Men have to share.
