Maria Pinto Closes Chicago Boutique. What's Michelle Obama to Wear?

Even designing dresses that turned
Michelle Obama into a fashion trendsetter couldn't keep
Maria Pinto in business.
The designer has
closed the doors to her Chicago boutique, reports the Chicago Sun-Times, and she is expected to seek bankruptcy protection this week.
Pinto tells the Sun-Times "economic challenges and soft buying trends at the top end of the apparel market" contributed to her business woes.
''I am confident that the 'Maria Pinto' name will not go away, but will merely take a break, before emerging in a new form," she tells the newspaper.
"I plan on using the next several months to explore different avenues and opportunities for business, as economic conditions improve."
In addition to dressing
Obama (see the purple sleeveless sheath dress she wore for the final primaries?), Pinto's customers also included
Oprah Winfrey and several Chicago socialites and civic leaders.
Pinto studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and New York's
Parsons School of Design and Fashion Institute of Technology, and worked for
Geoffrey Beene in her first fashion job. In 1991, she launched her own line, which was carried in stores including
Bergdorf Goodman, then she opened her Chicago boutique in 2008, according to the paper.
And, if there's any debate on
Michelle Obama's style power, here's a look at
her first 100 days of fashion.

BUT its not the thing for a funeral/memorial service. It is if you REALLY hate America and all American traditions and want to poke a stick in America's eye.
Or, as I would tell my kids, Who raised you?
Communists, in her case.

What a shame for us...The only place Michelle Obama can go is UP the fashion ladder now...oh darn. Don't be too quick to lose faith....there are PLENTY of hard-Left, America-hating 'fashion designers' who will be delighted to step in and fill the role.
She hasn't worn a North Korean Army uniform at a State funeral yet, or at least not that I know of....

“I doubt that she’s colorblind, (certainly not in a political sense, anyway) but her hatred of America and American traditions is such a seething cauldron of bile that she probably didn’t even consider the notion of it being disrespectful.....what’s there to respect at such an event, anyway? Probably ‘just another honky who oppressed People Of Color’ in her perspective.”
Sad, but true. I will be so glad when these two are out of office. I just hope this country lasts to see it happen. (Jim’s wife)

Okay so the shoes and socks were photo shopped.
The dress and cardigan STILL look like something I would have worn in grade school. (And yes, back in the 1960’s I wore that style of clothes.)

Even designing dresses that turned Michelle Obama into a fashion trendsetter couldn't keep Maria Pinto in business.Really? Because I don't see a lot of women wearing giant belts right up under their breasts, with 3/4 sleeve cardigans in colors that don't match the rest of the outfit and are buttoned incorrectly.
I haven't either, but then again I don't hang around with the Communist Sasquatch crowd.

Absolutely the dress is awful. I used to wear things like that years ago. MO has to be having those things custom made for her because I don’t see them in stores anymore. Her taste is ghastly. I keeping thinking someone will step in and advise her but not yet.

These shoes/sneakers she's wearing here are not photoshopped. They cost something like 4 or 5 hundred dollars, believe it or not.

Does it occur to anyone in the fashion industry that having an ugly woman with a fat a wearing ones clothes was not a selling point? If she were white or a Republican, the fashion industry would be laughing at her, not deifying her.

Her legs are so photo shopped in that picture it is ridiculous. See post #40 for a real photo. She has horrible legs and she is well aware of it. You can easily make a shapely calf with any photo shop program.

I might pay $5.00 for a pair of them to wear with grungy clothes on weekends when I’m doing housework, walking the dog, etc.
But 4 or 5 hundred dollars? Proves MO doesn’t have a lick of sense!

The blue frock on the left would look pretty on a woman with a different figure. In fact, it looks very on Michelle, compared to her usual outfits.
I don’t know why she insists on 2/3 sleeves all the time. It does NOT make her arms look any shorter.
