Qatari PM: Arabs must negotiate with Israel
Yediot Ahranot (YNet) ^ | 15 February 2010 | Roee Nahmias

Posted on 02/15/2010 12:13:02 PM PST by anotherview

Arabs have no choice but to engage in negotiations with Israel in order to promote peace, Qatari Prime Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabir al-Thani said Monday in a conference of Muslim states in Doha.

"In order to advance the peace process, there is no choice but to sit at the negotiating table with Israel," the Qatari leader said. "We may agree or disagree with Israel, yet sitting at the negotiating table is the only way to achieve a satisfactory result," the Qatari leader said.

Participants in the conference, which was examining ties between Muslim states and the United States, include US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The Quatari does not seem to realize that most of his neighbors do not WANT peace with Israel!

But apparently he DOES realize that if push comes to shove, Israel will stomp their asses.

"We may agree or disagree with Israel"

There is no intellectual agreement or disagreement. The way arabs see it, as long as Israel exists, their religion must be a lie, because their religion explicitly tells them to hate jews.

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...
until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:29)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers
[non-moslims] but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)

"It is not for any Prophet to have captives until he has made slaughter in the land."
(Surah 8:67)

"When the sacred months are over, slay the idolaters [non-moslims] wherever you find them.
Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them." (Surah 9:5)

"Believers! Know that idolators [non-moslims] are unclean." (Surah 9:28)

"If you fear treachery from any of your allies, you may fairly retaliate by breaking off
your treaty with them." (Surah 9:12)

(Arabs have the word "hudna". The Enemedia translates it "peace". But it is more subtle,
meaning "a temporary truce for the purpose of rearming". Where we speak of
"the Oslo Peace Accord", in Arab media, they call it "the Oslo Hudna Accord")

"Men take authority over women... As for those who are disobedient,
admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them." (Surah 4:34)

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Fight unbelievers [non-moslims] who are near to you." (Surah 9:123)

"As for the man who steals and the woman who steals, cut off their hands as punishment
for what they have earned, an exemplary punishment from Allah." (Surah 5:38)

"Unbelievers [non-moslims] are enemies of Allah and they will roast in hell." (Surah 41:14)

"The Day of Resurrection will not arrive until the Moslims make war against the Jews and
kill them, and until a Jew hiding behind a rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say:
'Oh Moslem, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!'"
(Sahih Bukhari 004.52.176)

"Unbelievers [non-moslims] are those who say: 'God is one of three.' There is but one God.
If they do not desist from so saying, those of them that disbelieve shall be sternly punished."
(Surah 5:73)

"The Christians say: The Christ is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths;
they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them." (Sura 9:30)

"The unbelievers [non-moslims] are the firewood of hell." (Surah 72:15)

"When you meet the unbelievers [non-moslims], smite their necks, then when you have made
wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds, then set them free, either by grace or ransom,
until the war lays down its burdens." (Surah 47:4)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers [non-moslims] and the hypocrites [non-literalist moslims]
and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

This guy's only saying this to get some kind of money.

That would require that the other Arab nations actually acknowledge that Israel is a sovereign nation and I believe only Jordan and Qatar do right now. The rest don’t recognize Israel as a nation at all.

Once in a blue moon an Arab like this guy will talk sense about Israel. Then you never hear anything about him again.

“Engaging in negotiations” with Israel doesn’t mean that the Arabs plan to change their attitude toward the Zionist entity’s existence. Negotiation is a ploy that Muslims use as a tactic to deceive the enemy in order to gain an advantage — nothing more. They cannot be trusted — especially if they’re sitting at a negotiating table.

In alphabetical order:

Egypt, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco, Qatar

Morocco broke off diplomatic relations some years ago but still recognizes Israel.

Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates have had low level diplomatic talks with Israel. They have never formally recognized Israel but I think it could happen quite easily if conditions were right.

Right now the moderate Arab states fear Iran far more than Israel. The enemy of my enemy... Right now the Gulf

The fact is that not one Israeli has been killed along the Egyptian border. Egypt is fencing in their border with Gaza. Jordan has apprehended terrorists trying to infiltrate Israel.

I like what Ronald Reagan said when dealing with the Soviet Union. Anything you agree to has to be verified.

...especially if they try to make peace. Ask King Abdullah of Jordan about his grandfather or Hosni Mubarek about Anwar Sadat. It takes a special kind of courage for an Arab leader to move peace with Israel foward. The Palestinians never have had a leader like that. Lebanon had a couple but they didn't live long.

This is why so many Israelis have such a high regard for the memory of Anwar Sadat.

We have our own crazies in Israel. Look what happened to Prime Minister Rabin. The difference is the Arabs have many more crazies than we do, probably a sizable majority.

Thanks for the correction. I didn’t think about Egypt but they would have had to in order to even sign the 79 treaty.

Coming from a country that is half the geographic size of Israel, that means a lot. ;') This guy better not miss any of his daily prayers, because he's toast. Thanks anotherview.

You misunderstand

He is voicing the position of the GCC. He is the spokesman for the Gulf Arabs. They are preparing for war with Iran.

The designated recipient for the message is Imanutjob et al

GCC = Gulf Cooperation Council= Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain,Qatar, UAE and Oman

Exactly. The enemy of my enemy... Once Iran is dealt with then they can go back to hating Israel.

Good for Jordan and Egypt. It’s about time. That only leaves, what, about 20 more Arab states that want to see Israel wiped off the map.

You have every right to maintain a healthy and appropriate measure of scepticsm, Emile, but I'd definitely also recommend you keep an open mind, and absolutely "never say never", in regards to these things, and in regards to any given Arab leader. After all, both Sadat and King Hussein ultimately proved sincere, and the results of their willingness to approach Israel, openly and realisticly, proved excellent. Personally, I plan to show every measure of support to this Qatari gentleman, and to any others who appear to be like him [unless I have specific reason to feel otherwise], for whatever potentially good and positive results this may potentially lead to. Israelis are "no fools !" in negotiations, you know, so what harm can it do to get people into free and fair discussions, and how do you know it won't be the Israelis who end up "gaining the advantage" there ? : ) And I certainly hope this Qatari gentleman has a whole bunch of people watching his back... I may wish to invite him to my kid's Bar Mitzvah, some day. : )
