The Bush Admin and Senator McCain warned repeatedly about Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and what thus became the 2008 financial crisis -- starting in 2002 (and actually even earlier -- in the Clinton and Carter White Houses. Democrats resisted and kept to their party line, extending loans to people who couldn't afford them -- just like you would expect of socialists.

I'm not sure you're right about that, becky. The media is controlled by the far left, and they hated Bush with a deep passion.

IMO, no matter how much Bush might have defended himself, I don't believe it would have been heard. (I believe that in part because he did defend the war in Iraq and it was never heard).

And I'm not sure he would have gotten the long term respect he will eventually have because he behaved honorably at all times.

In the end, I believe he will benefit for being a man of conscience and integrity who refused to get in the mud with his detractors. JMHO.

When you start out by saying George W. Bush wasn't pro-life, you make it very clear that you aren't an honest broker (and most likely not pro-life yourself).

But I knew that long ago, so I shall not read farther. I'm sure what follows is equally nonsensical. Most of what you post here on FR is...

So, good-bye, FC. Don't make me get out my fly swatter, OK?

At the point that the Democrat policies had become part of the country's economy it would have been irresponsible for Bush to sound any alarms, but instead to work under the radar to shore up the system. Which he did. The two now forgotten national rebates were both attempts to boost the economy and lessen the impact of what his administration knew was coming.

Especially in "October of 2008" any public doubts in the financial structures of the country would have deepened the crisis with banks runs and catastrophic stock sell-offs. Remember when McCain said, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong" and the Democrats went nuts? He had to say that and its obvious the 'Rats wanted to use the crash to win the election.

Those policies were part of the country's economy when W took office. The CRA started under Carter, then Clinton took steps to force lenders to make the unsound loans. And the same policies continued throughout W's two terms. No one has clean hands on this, though I'd agree the Dims are about 75% responsible for the problems, and Republicans did make some attempts to patch things during the mid-2000s.

And there are those videos showing W bragging about his "ownership society" and about the increase in minority home ownership.

Give it a rest. Of course Bush talked about the "ownership society". What was he supposed to do? Jerk houses away from people and tell them "It will save the economy in the long run".

You people who keep droning on about "both sides" insure the Left will win this fight.

Lol, it's you who jumped on a dead thread and started pontificating. Sorry, for almost eight years of W's administration, the ticking financial time bomb kept on ticking until it finally went off at a very bad time for the McCain/Palin ticket.

And Republicans still aren't telling the full story, and they continually allow Obama to blame it all on Wall Street. And the left will definitely win the fight if Republicans continue to remain almost silent on the issue.

But Republicans do have the better story to tell, if they'd just tell it in understandable terms.

You are probably right about him not being heard. I just assumed him being the president they would have to cover him. I’m not so sure that he will ever be judged fairly. The dems rewrite history all the time. Its like with the glowing coverage Roosevelt still gets, it is now set in stone. I am afraid that is what has happened to Bush.

Having a place to ‘correct the record’ is one of many reasons that President Bush has decided to build BOTH a policy institute and a library — the first contemporary president to do so!! [FYI: In ONE year, President Bush has already raised over 230 million dollars — from individual, domestic donors . . . President Bush is respected and loved by many — He will be remembered well!]

I got some literature about the new Bush presidential center. It said it was something entirely new than the usual presidential library. I sent in a donation. The first time I have ever donated to a presidential library.

Thank you for accurately calling what goes on around here "deception," DrDeb.

I just got a freepmail from a friend who noted that the Bush haters here lie just as much as the media and the leftists outside FR.

And they DO.

“When you start out by saying George W. Bush wasn’t pro-life, you make it very clear that you aren’t an honest broker (and most likely not pro-life yourself).”

What makes you think he actually is pro-life? His family apparently wasn’t until GHWB was added to the Reagan ticket. His wife is pro-”choice”. His mother is pro-”choice”. Now, neither are militant about it... His grandfather was on Planned Parenthood’s board. So, who knows what he believes?

I think you confuse what politicians say to get elected and what they actually believe. He may be personally pro-life, he may not be.

“ah . . . another pseudo-con, neo-libertarian, conspiracy-oriented Third Party nut, oops, I mean advocate.”

I guess that makes you an advocate for doubling the debt and expanding government at a rate not seen since LBJ and not topped until Obama.

I don't "think" he's pro-life. I KNOW he's pro-life, as do all the pro-life organizations who have honored him for his unwavering support of the unborn.

If you were informed, you'd know it too, but your BDS makes you willfully stupid. (And you have proven by your not knowing that you, indeed are not pro-life..... as I suspected).

Now leave me alone. I can't stand ignorant blowhards. The death of a brain is a terrible thing to observe...... and yours is long gone.

DrDeb, I strongly advise you to ignore this BDS pseudo-con. He is nothing more than an ill-informed pest, and will keep posting idiocy to you until you are literally nauseated. Best to let him rant to himself.
