From industry to education to tourism, economic recovery from the Great Recession is evident in communities across Lake and Porter counties.
The $3.8 billion expansion of the BP Whiting Refinery is symbolic of Northwest Indiana's economy. The region has suffered high unemployment and a rash of home foreclosures just like the rest of the United States. Yet its bedrock industries have remained intact and poised for growth.
"The silver lining is that, despite the downturn in the economy, you have major industrial establishments here that are the backbone of our economy," said Vince Galbiati, former CEO of the Northwest Indiana Forum.
Progress and development in the region hasn't been limited to industry. Public safety and government in Northwest Indiana also witnessed innovations. Social metrics
The Dims will be explaining the facts to the Times that Obama wants only stories about so called green jobs.
They badly need a faux recovery. I think everyone knows now that a Great Fall is going to hit. They MIGHT be able to push it back to after the elections or even next year. Maybe.
Reading this makes me want to take out a $750,000 2nd loan on my $200,000 house!
Rally on bitches!!!
The far northwest corner of Indiana, the little corner of the state the rest of us hoosiers would love to pawn off to Illinois or Michigan...
“They badly need a faux recovery”

Progress and development isn't "created" by government.
Progress and development is a bi product of a free society in a republic.
Am I wrong?
Industry creates wealth that government needs to survive.
