How about the consequences of not striking? A nuclear Iran that would be a huge wild-card in the Mideast and the probable end of Israel.

Well then maybe Mr Stupid should stop focusing his attention on Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and women on submarines and concentrate on the real issues facing our military!

That would not be the most desirable outcome, but
in the abscense of a popular overturn of mullah
centric government it might be necessary.

Get ready for 10 buck a gallon gas and another recession
at least for awhile

“I'm worried about the consequences of an amphibious assault on the fortified coast of Europe".

Can you imaging General Marshall saying that in 1944?

I'm sure he thought about it, but would never say it.

>>and I worry a great deal about the unintended consequences of a strike<<

The Intended consequences of doing nothing will be much much worse.

We can control a lot from what WE do. We have little control over what happens from what THEY do.

I understand Admiral Mike Mullen's apprehension, but his comments make him sound like a big pu$$y. This guy forgets that not sixty five years ago approx, we were fighting two MAJOR conflicts with two different nations in two opposite ends of the world that involved some 40 million American men under arms.

If I were Admiral Mullen, I would be more "openly" worried about our unstable Commander-In-Chief than ANYTHING Iran would/could do.

Sick of *unintended* consequences talk. (what kind of crap is that coming from an US Admiral anyways)

Everything has consequences. In this case, mushroom clouds over Israel and US bases in the ME if we don’t act in time.

The Time for a preventive attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities becomes more difficult with each passing day. The Iranian dictators have POTUS Obama’s number, and they know one of two things is true. Obama is either a very weak USA POTUS and leader or, he is silently working to buy time for his Muslim buddies in Iran to get their nuclear weapon. Obama could have made life very difficult for the Iranian dictatorship by siding with the Iranian people who are seeking freedom and liberty from their oppressive government, but Obama is not a freedom/liberty man and he remained deadly quiet as innocent Iranian citizens were beaten and killed on their very own streets. He is, IMHO, in exactly the same league as these despots that rule Iran. The Iranian rulers, through the silence of Obama gained time to get their act together and are now in total control of both the country and government. They look upon Obama and Hillary Clinton as allies in their quest to gain nuclear weapons (It’s a done deal). I wonder when America will wake up, or will we fall as Rome did so many years ago. The fact is, the Roman empire endured for some fifteen hundred years, we’ve barely reached over 200 years. Sad, but true. See folks, we are only one election away from tyranny and destruction. How’s the Obama Hope & Change working out for you, your children, your grandchildren???

Don’t worry about Iran with nukes, but focus on getting gays into the Military??

Seems to me like a careerist and bureaucrat - but don’t know enough about him to say for sure.

The outbreak of a conflict will be a big, big, big problem for all of us

And Iran throwing nukes or just using their possession to hegemonize Saudia Arabia and Israel is a lesser problem?

“The outbreak of a conflict will be a big, big, big problem for all of us, and I worry a great deal about the unintended consequences of a strike,” Admiral Mullen said.”

What a wussy sea-biscuit.

Real policy-makers are worried about the consequences of NOT KNOCKING OUT Iran’s nuke capability.

My guess is that that Admiral is banking on a second Obama term and looking to be on the short list of Obama’s Candy Ass Brass List.

Sorta reminds me of a story regarding Admiral King, the five-star Chief of Naval Operations in WWII. In a discussion with the press, King spoke about the US Navy’s plans for the invasion of the Philippines, and the dangers it posed, given the still-potent strength of the Imperial Japanese Navy, including the Yamato, equipped with 18.1-inch guns. “Admiral, won’t this put the fleet at risk?,” asked a reporter. To which the admiral responded with an icy look and a short reply. “Son, that’s what fleets are for.”

Mullen is no Admiral King.
