Sarah Palin Ain't Ronald Reagan
American Spectator ^ | 2.13.10 | Doug Bandow

Posted on 02/14/2010 11:35:03 AM PST by kingattax

Sarah Palin has undoubted political skills. In fact, that's what one should expect from someone who defeated an incumbent governor in the primary and a former governor in the general election.

But her common touch and winning speaking style do not mean she is a reincarnation of Ronald Reagan.

Hey, Doug Bandow, Sarah’s a Christian. She doesn’t believe in reincarnation. And neither do we. Get a life.

“...do not mean she is a reincarnation of Ronald Reagan.”

Do we really need to have someone tell us this?

For cryin’ out loud! Sarah Palin can’t get a break.

And Ronald Reagan wasn’t Sarah Palin. If she succeeds then it’s because of who she is and not who she reminds people of, accurately or inaccurately.

Thank you. Why so many feel the need to make the comparison is beyond me.

I have been saying this all along to much derision. Palin is the conservative flavor of the day. She is NOT presidential material.

Reagan was unique. Just as Sarah Palin is. Let the comparisons start and end there.

Even Ronald Reagan is not Ronald Reagan.

As typically happens when looking upon the past, each individual makes of the past what they want to see.

Reagan was good, but he made mistakes like everyone, as every President must do because that is part of politics.

So what is Sarah isn’t Regan.

Is she right for the job? I’ inclining toward a, “Yes,” but even I need to know more.

Is Obammie the Commie right for the job? Unequivocally, “HELL NO!!”

Is the candidate right for the job?

That’s the question that most seem incapable of asking and answering honestly.

So you think the American Spectator is a leftist site?

Many of us conservatives like Sarah Palin, but want to get a look at the alternatives the next three years. Meanwhile a big faction here at FR want a coronation.

She's still alive, younger, and much better looking IMO.

Thus the left hates her.

Well, since I don’t go on the site I had no idea what it was. When I saw the headline I automatically thought it was a smear job

Ooh! Cool template! Let me take it for a spin.

Ronald Reagan has undoubted political skills. In fact, that's what one should expect from someone who defeated an incumbent governor in the general election.
But his common touch and winning speaking style do not mean he is a reincarnation of Barry Goldwater.

Ronald Reagan lost his first time out. It took him a few years to find his voice. He was ridiculed before he won and after, and many of those detractors now praise him and ignore their own ignorance. Sound familiar?

Sarah Palin has undoubted political skills.

True.

The BS starts after the word "but" as usual.
