Family: Friends torture, kill disabled woman
Six charged in death of 30-year-old whose body was dumped at Pa. school

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Jennifer Daugherty's mom and stepdad didn't press for details when she mentioned she had made some new friends. The 30-year-old had the mental abilities of an adolescent but wasn't the kind to get in trouble, and she was even thinking about getting her own place soon.
Police found her body Friday stuffed into a garbage can in a school parking lot; they say she had been forced to consume detergent and urine and to write a fake suicide note before she was fatally stabbed by attackers who also shaved her head and painted her face with nail polish. Six suspects have been charged, including her new "friends."

Police say she was beaten with a towel rack, vacuum cleaner hose and a crutch, and her body bound with Christmas decorations, an affidavit said. Police said she was fed vegetable oil, medications and spices in addition to soap and urine.
She was stabbed multiple times with an unknown weapon in the neck, chest and head, Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha said. Authorities said they found the victim's belongings in the building's attic, as well as items that had been used to clean up blood.

Six people were charged with criminal homicide, kidnapping and other counts: Robert Loren Masters Jr., 36, Ricky Smyrnes, 23, Melvin Knight, 20, Amber Meidinger, 20, and Angela Marinucci, 17, all of Greensburg; and Peggy Darlene Miller, 27, of Mount Pleasant Township. All were being held without bond in the Westmoreland County prison. Prosecutors didn't know whether any of them had attorneys.

In casting a movie, he would be the ringleader.
What motivates animals like this? What is their reasoning? I think they all should be killed, the sooner the better. This reminds me of the mindless killings of the Manson family.
Certainly, even within nature, an unjustified killing could be found. The difference here though is illustrated with torture and degradation of another human being.
I’m sure the type of “retard” D is referring to isn’t the people who are born with some difference that requires others of more ability to lend them our aid and love. I think the “retard” she is referring to is the people who WILLINGLY ignore their humanity and do this type of terrible crime. And as such the fall OUTSIDE the norm of criminal justice and need to be “dispensed” with as soon as possible. You have to be “human” before you are granted “human rights”.
I agree that it’s a good thing our Heavenly Father is one to forgive. But while He may forgive, He at no point in scripture rescinds His demand that the willful murder of another human being is to be punished by death. I think it’s something we as Christians have somewhat confused, to the detriment of our society and the value it places on human (our) lives. After all, if we are made in the image of a Holy God, then that demands respect, and it demands punishment for those who destroy that reflection of our Heavenly Father.
What sort of sick individuals get enjoyment out of torturing another human being? They are less then human and don’t deserve so much as a trial.
Injustice would be anything less than the Death Penalty for anyone involved in this.
I bet one or two of them are the deranged ring leaders. The other misfits went along for the joyride. So the victim was ‘mentally challenged’? Beg to differ that her abusers are instead!
I remember reading an article about the death penalty that I found rather revealing. I thought it was about an anti-capital punishment organization who finally realized they were fighting a losing battle, and just gave up.
It turns out to be a collection of lawyers, judges and law professors who supported the death penalty and were trying to create a standard for it's application.

From the article:
"Things will look different come September", Professor Gross said.
Law students who take first-year criminal law from 2010 on, he said, will learn that this same group of smart lawyers and judges the ones whose work they read every day has said that the death penalty in the United States is a moral and practical failure.
The disconnect between the people who live in the real world and the ones who exist in some sort of “hypothetical universe” is astonishing.
The people who have commented on this thread recognize, with great clarity, evil. And are unambiguous about what needs to be done.
The Free Republic link still has an active link to the original NYTimes article.
Gotta add sickening to that, if I may.
You kill 'em. Anyone with a disabled person in the family knows that innocence shouldn't be tortured and killed for just being a 'friend'. The perps, after being found guilty, deserve to die. Now.
I suggest the perps move into a house next to yours and let you deal with them. Good luck with all that.
It is because of stories like this that I carry a piece everywhere that it’s legal to do so.
Where does this evil come from? It always baffles me how humans can do this to their fellow man. I’m not surprised by the actions, as I’ve seen enough evil to know it is always here. I just am baffled as to HOW people can do this to each other. I can’t begin to understand it. Simple mob mentality is not enough to explain it.
God is going to have a long talk with them at some point.
I wish that they could be slowly drawn and quartered, and sent back to hell where they came from.
I really don’t see your point. Or rather, your comment, while pithy, seems to miss the mark of my original statement.
My initial statement was to the issue of what God’s forgiveness means specifically regarding His expectation of the earthly punishment for those who commit murder. I apologize if it was unclear when I referred to this is as a societal issue (referring to capital punishment); that it is the responsibility of the representatives/leaders of a society that seeks to walk with God. Obviously, an individual taking the societys responsibilities on himself isnt really what I was referring to.
Perhaps scripture from the Christian Bible isn’t particularly relevant to you, which is perfectly fine. That is entirely your choice, just as it’s my choice to believe that same scripture. However, considering my statement pertained to this scripture (regarding an earlier posts reference to God), specifically what God says about those who murder another human being and how a society that walks with God should punish that individual, debating scriptural veracity is moot.
My statement was that Gods forgiveness of a murderer, and a societys use of capital punishment for that same criminal are not mutually exclusive. Agree with scripture, or not, I hope that clarifies my statement a bit.
“Animals are more civilized.
They dont even kill to eat
if theyre not hungry.”
Consider why biologists use the term “killing frenzy”.
Wolves will, if the opportunity arises, kill sheep until the flock is:
1. All dead.
2. Scattered.
3. The pack is too exhausted to kill more sheep.
The same thing is on Youtube where a cougar got into a sheep pen. Just beasts being beastly.
I stand corrected. :>)
Well it looks like mac daddy will lose 6 more canidates for his administration.
Gee and he ws so high on them and looking forward to them joining his team.
Oh, I get it. Can the killers live next to you - and take advantage of your family? When do you give in - after they snuff your disabled daughter or son? At what point do you demand justice?
