Astonishment as scientist at centre of global warming email row admits vital data was not well organised
The academic at the centre of the ‘Climategate’ affair, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, has admitted that he has trouble ‘keeping track’ of the information.
Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.
Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is ‘not as good as it should be’.
The data is crucial to the famous ‘hockey stick graph’ used by climate change advocates to support the theory.
Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.
And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.
The admissions will be seized on by sceptics as fresh evidence that there are serious flaws at the heart of the science of climate change and the orthodoxy that recent rises in temperature are largely man-made.

He also agreed that there had been two periods which experienced similar warming, from 1910 to 1940 and from 1975 to 1998, but said these could be explained by natural phenomena whereas more recent warming could not.

Not so astonishing, especially since I’ve seen the offices of my meteorology profs........
He said in one of his e-mails something to this effect: “If they find out that there is a Freedom of Information law in the UK, I think I will destroy the data rather than give it to them.”
And true to his word, the data has apparently been destroyed. I hope no one is taken in again by this deceiver. Everyone should have their eyes wide open by now.
I’ve never met any meteorologists from the NWS who believed in global warming and the only meteorologist I ever heard of who did, was a TV meteorologist.
Good for your daughter’s prof.
Meteorology is a FUN degree to get. If she really likes it, she should pursue it. The calculus is tough, but if she can handle that, she’ll have no problems.
There’s also a little book out called *How to Lie with Statistics*. It’s an older book, but still in print. I had to read it for one of my classes in college.
It’s a short read, but once you get through it, you’ll NEVER trust another statistic again. The author just shreds what people do with statistics and nothing has changed in 50 years.

I don’t know what to tell people who think that this record cold and snowfall is due to global warming.
I mean, if they understand that snow melts in warmer temperatures, you can talk to them and point out the errors involved with the whole global warming scam.
But with someone who is so deluded as to believe that the planet warming will result in colder temperatures and more snowfall, I just don’t know.
I really ought to formulate some response to that, but haven’t been able to figure out what to tell them without outright insulting them. How do you answer such stupidity and gullibility?
That may be just what I was looking for....
That will give me something to start with.
