Astonishment as scientist at centre of global warming email row admits vital data was not well organised

The academic at the centre of the ‘Climategate’ affair, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, has admitted that he has trouble ‘keeping track’ of the information.

Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.

Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is ‘not as good as it should be’.

The data is crucial to the famous ‘hockey stick graph’ used by climate change advocates to support the theory.

Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.

And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.

The admissions will be seized on by sceptics as fresh evidence that there are serious flaws at the heart of the science of climate change and the orthodoxy that recent rises in temperature are largely man-made.

Professor Jones has been in the spotlight since he...

--snip--

He also agreed that there had been two periods which experienced similar warming, from 1910 to 1940 and from 1975 to 1998, but said these could be explained by natural phenomena whereas more recent warming could not.

He further admitted that in the last 15 years there had been no ‘statistically significant’ warming, although he argued this was a blip rather than the long-term trend...

>This has been an attempted takeover of the governments of the entire Western World that may be failing. The historical punishment for such efforts when they fail has always been execution of the perpetrators.

It may be failing because governments are still implementing the AGW measures or trying to. The EPA is moving to control everything with the regulation that will come with its declaration of CO2 to be a pollutant. The Republicans may reverse that rule in Congress if they are able to overcome ACORN in November and President Soetoro may possibly not veto that.

That EPA ruling demonstrates that EPA has near plenipotentiary powers already and we have to rely on Congress vetoing each new usurpation as it happens. Much of EPA's damage will be a continual tightening of rules without such declarations in the future even with a Republican Congress because the voters will not notice it as it happens and Congress won't care. Eventually EPA will do it all to us without any Cap&Trade laws. Such pressure is inherent in the very existence of the organization.

Kudos to you Sir. An articulate and right on the money post. This is what is really going on.

BINGO. I agree completely.

The EPA is an agency that must be eradicated. Lets make that a mission hum?

Were the purloined socks documents his own? Or did he steal on someone else's behalf?

Cheers!

Here is his problem:

The emails show over and over -— one of the most common themes-— that the group actively hid from FOIA requests. In one email, one of them vows to destroy data rather than turn it over.

And now that the pressure is inescapable, he claims to have “lost” the data. I might actually believe him if he can point to one of the leaked emails where the scientists discuss missing data, as opposed to secret data, destroying data, hiding data, manipulating data, ...

We live in WA state, one of the most radical environmental states in the country. My husband served as the industry adviser on one of the governor's advisory boards. The rest of the members were rabid environmentalists. One of the committee meetings for this board was held in the office of one of the radical environmental groups, Friends of Puget Sound, because there was a reception for the governor the same day at the hotel where this group had offices (not a coincidence). The group forgot about the industry adviser being present and left the notes from the previous night's meeting on the black board. The notes were titled, "Things that could stand in the way of achieving our agenda." Number one on the list was, "Over reliance on global warming." The other one that my husband was remembered, the last one, was, "Rich white men suck."

This was probably 2005. These people knew back in 2005, that global warming was a farce. They had already changed their MO to concentrating on water issues.

I’ve been arguing with this eco-nut Leftist pagan retired woman who worships Mother Earth. She really thinks the record snowfall in Dallas was caused by AGW. She goes by the handle ‘patriotgirl65’. I’m tired of arguing with her because she doesn’t want to debate the facts, but simply call people names and be quite hateful. Some one else pick up the ball and give her a whirl.

It would be nice to see some accurate checks of what this paper claims Jones has admitted.

Don’t see any mention of this yet in the BBC. Guess they are wondering where their pension plans are going to go.

'Climategate' expert Jones says data not well organised

That's the BBC account.

Short note at a Blog of the Orange County Register:

Global warming – the universal cause agent (and money-maker)

Global warming, is there nothing it can’t do?

That’s the question asked today at the Heritage Foundation’s The Foundry blog. We are about to hear from NBC about the dire results of too little snow in Vancouver where the network is invested big time in bringing you the Winter Olympics. The cause for this shortage of snow? Yes, global warming.

Simultaneously, the network is reporting about an incredible over-supply of snow in Washington D.C. to the point it shut down the government. The cause for this over-supply? Yes, global warming.

As we’ve noted many times in this blog, if global warming causes everything, can it really cause anything? The hotter it gets, the cooler it gets, the wetter it gets, the drier it gets, yes, it’s all because of global warming. How can anyone disprove such a theory. Hm, maybe that’s the idea.

One thing with a more direct cause-and-effect relationship, however, is mentioned by The Foundry:

“Considering that NBC/GE  has already received billions in TARP bailout cash from the Obama administration and is actively lobbying for a global warming energy tax bill so that it can receive billions more in government green-energy subsidies on top of the millions it already receives, we are sure to hear lots from NBC announcers about how the lack of snow in Vancouver is just another reason Washington needs to act now to stop global warming.”

P.S. Here’s a rather comprehensive list of things caused by global warming (ha, ha).

Make him pay back all the money he has received for his slip-shod “research”. The money was paid for science, not speculation and political positioning.

If AGW were really taking place, a lack of any statistically significant warming for the past FIFTEEN YEARS would seem to be a very unexpected result.
