The University of Alabama biology professor accused of slaying three of her colleagues fatally shot her brother in an apparent accident in Massachusetts more than two decades ago, a local police chief said.

She is looking at hard time or the needle. Insanity defense or no insanity defense.
John Polio, chief of police at the time, said Amy Bishop, who was 20 at the time, had asked her mother, Judith, in the presence of her brother how to unload a round from the chamber of a 12-gauge shotgun.
Polio told the Globe that while Amy Bishop was handling the weapon, it fired, wounding Seth Bishop in the abdomen. He was pronounced dead at a hospital 46 minutes after the Dec. 6, 1986 shooting.

The psychological makeup of this person sounds similar to that of the Huffington Post columnist that went on a murder rampage last year in Florida. Maybe this one can get a HufPo column too.
Anyone who does this is insane of course. But is she competent? Think all signs point to ‘YES’. (And accomplished as well; given how long her brother has been dead.)

If so, her presumed insanity plea is going nowhere.
I concur. Maybe the liberal blogs should grasp on that as evidence that some students are just insane.

Don't think the Mother/sister were in on this; she only had to 'aim' and 'misfire' and cry and scream. But who knows.. .
Yes; on her more accomplished brother. Tired of HIS kudos, perhaps; and perhaps does not like 'males' either. Whatever the case; one unfortunate looking teacher. Teach/learn. . .
Am wondering what Mom and Sis are thinking now. Hope they are not as wierd as she appears to be. But, looking back must be as stressful now; as looking forward.

Bishop is a mother of four and is married to a UAH geneticist and researcher James Anderson, according to The Huntsville Times.
