We are not supposed to speak ill of the dead. But those whom the deceased viciously smeared and humiliated deserve to be defended. Entrenched Rep. John Murtha passed away on Feb. 8 after a botched gallbladder surgery. He has been hailed as a "military advocate" (Associated Press) and "one of the greatest patriots ever to serve in Congress" (former Rep. Harold Ford Jr.).
These obsequious obituaries leave out inconvenient truths: John "Jack" Murtha was an unrepentant smear merchant and corruptocrat to the bitter end.
In May 2006, during an MSNBC appearance that Marines and their families will never forget or forgive, Murtha accused US troops of wantonly killing some two dozen civilians, including children, in the terrorist stronghold of Haditha, Iraq. Bellowed Murtha: "Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood."

I knew all these things about Murtha but Michelle Malkin has a way with words. And what is wrong with the people of his district electing him 19 times. I guess they are just as corrupt as he was. Rot in hell.

In 1980, during his fourth term as a Congressman, Murtha became embroiled in the Abscam investigation, which targeted dozens of congressmen. The investigation entailed FBI operatives posing as intermediaries for Saudi nationals hoping to bribe their way through the immigration process into the United States. Murtha met with these operatives and was videotaped. He did agree to testify against Frank Thompson (D-NJ) and John Murphy (D-NY), the two Congressmen mentioned as participants in the deal at the same meeting and who were later videotaped placing the cash bribes in their trousers. The FBI videotaped Murtha responding to an offer of $50,000, with Murtha saying, “I’m not interested... at this point. [If] we do business for a while, maybe I’ll be interested, maybe I won’t”, right after Murtha had offered to provide names of businesses and banks in his district where money could be invested legally.[19] The U.S. Attorney’s Office reasoned that Murtha’s intent was to obtain investment in his district. Full length viewing of the tape shows Murtha citing prospective investment opportunities that could return “500 or 1000” miners to work.

Am I the only one who thinks the ‘botched’ surgery may not have been an accident?
Does that include the me’s who HOPE the botchulism wasn’t an accident?
The fawning eulogies of this guy sickened me. Good riddance. He will not be missed except by his partners in corruption.

Junior Ford may have to run 3rd party. I can’t see him winning the Dem nomination, he’s got too much baggage. He’s even been exposed as still NOT being a resident of NY in order to avoid their high income taxes. How like a rodent. If we get a decent GOP candidate, if Ford and Gillibrand split the far left vote, we can get a plurality win.
