But Kenworthy said Skillman is definitely considering a gubernatorial run.

The body of the thread is very short and abbreviated because the station picked this up from AP.
Is this exerpt all right regarding copyright issues? I kept it brief but I haven’t posted anything for a long time and wasn’t sure.
Ditto!
How about Skillman running against Bayh instead of the two old retreads currently in the race ?
I’d vote for her there too, but I think her talents would be best used as governor right now. IMHO Washington is something different.
I’ve read nothing locally about that happening. She is well-regarded here, but word is that she wants to be the next Governor.
If she wants to be governor, she should just stay put.
A better question is “how about Daniels running against Bayh?” I know that he’s said that he’s not interested, but that would actually make sense, and it would give Skillman a leg up on the 2012 gubernatorial election.
Actually, I looked up when the gubernatorial term begins in IN, and its on January 10, so if Daniels was elected Senator and resigned as Gov. on January 3, 2011 (the last day that he could do so and be sworn in as senator on time), Skillman would have served a smidgeon over 2 years of Daniels’s term and thus could only be elected in her own right to a single 4-year term as governor. Maybe Daniels could hold down both jobs for a week à la Huey Long . . . .
Of course, if Skillman wants to be senator more than governor (I had assumed that she wouldn’t, since she has already expressed interest in running for govermor in 2012), she can jump into the senate race with very little risk, since even if she loses the primary or general she can still run for governor in 2012 or for the old RINO’s senate seat in 2014. The question is, would she be a strong general-election candidate against Bayh?
She certainly couldn’t be worse than Hostettler or Coats.
Let’s not write Coats off so quickly; I know a Daily Kos poll showed him down big, but it also showed Bayh winning independents by 30% while every other Democrat in every other contested race nationwide is losing independents by wide margins, so Coats is probably behind by only 5%-8% before even beginning his campaign.
Coats wrote himself off in 1998. His running now is little more than a joke. The IN GOP pissing away a winnable seat by not getting Pence or Rokita in is why they’ve well earned the “Stupid Party” moniker.
You could take the lightening fast rat attacks on him to be a sign of fear.
The same Kos poll had Hostettler losing big to Bayh. Rasmussen has Hostettler losing by a few points.
