hey pennie saw on fnc, on phone will check local when I’m off
Serious? All this killing because she failed to get tenure??? INSANE!
Oh no! This happening in one of my hometowns! That college was not there when I was. I guess the town has grown a lot since 1949. Prayers for the victims’ families.
Local news reporting 3 dead. Shooter in Custody.
1 local reporter said the shooter was a professor who was denied tenure. Shot several co-workers. That is not confirmed right now.
Word is that all the victims are faculty members.
UNIV of AL
That’s the news that’s trickling out.....but it’s early, yet.
I guess UAH must work a full day on Friday. My h’band’s college in the area shuts for half a day on Fridays to save $$$.
Thanks for the updates!
What a tragedy - prayers for the victims.
If it’s true that the shooter was denied tenure - it looks like the shooter just confirmed the college’s original assessment...
You’re welcome, babes! I have it on telly now.
Not surprised if this is result of tenure denial. Those are appointments that are held and dispensed in a very political way. My daughter went through that and won tenure, but now she is in the process of getting full professorship. She has to be approved by every little fifedom from dept. head to chancillor and ultimately President of the Alumni Board. She has made it past the dean. But she has been fatalistic from the outset. She won’t come unglued if it doesn’t happen.
...INSANE!...
Ya think?
Well, Nan.....I’ll be praying she gets it.
It's odd, there is no such thing as tenure in the private sector...
Me too, Jay.
Thank you. As I said, she does not have her heart set on it. She does pretty well as a tenured professor. I think she will make it because I would imagine that if the dean approved her, then the rest will follow his recommendation. She has been at App. State Univ. for a long time and does a fantastic job at what she does.
Spoiled overpaid government employees thinking they deserve a job for life?
I am West of Huntsville on 72 across the MS/TN/AL stateline. My prayers for the families of those lost. I go there to the functions at the Merrimac Center. Usually the ones that go ape like that are liberals.
