Bill Nye 'The Science Guy': Denying Climate Change 'Unpatriotic,' 'Inappropriate'
Newsbusters ^ | February 11, 2010 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 02/11/2010 4:17:35 AM PST by Rufus2007

Challenging someone's patriotism is a pretty hefty charge to level in the political arena, based on the response when Barack Obama's patriotism was challenged during the 2008 election cycle.

However, there seems to be a different set of rules when it comes to questioning the authenticity of the manmade global warming argument in the wake of record-setting snowfall in the Mid-Atlantic. And this different standard applied to Bill Nye "The Science Guy," who appeared on MSNBC's Feb. 10 "Rachel Maddow Show" and aired his disapproval of manmade climate change skeptics and labeled them "unpatriotic."

"[T]here's more energy in the atmosphere and this is stirring things up," Nye said. "If you want to get serious about it, these guys claiming that the snow in Washington disproves climate change are almost unpatriotic. It's really, they're denying science. So they're very happy to have the weather forecast be accurate within a few hours, but they're displeased or un-enchanted by predictions of the world getting warmer. It's really, it shakes me up."

the only charges he left out were that denying MAN MADE climate chage is racist, xenophobic and maybe homophobic, as well as unpatriotic

Folks, it’s time to call the liberals out and laugh at their quivering indignation that anyone disgrees with them

Screw you, Bill Nye, "Science Guy"...

If somebody wants to start from the beginning and prove the theories of Anthropogenic Global Warming without all the fraud and data manipulation, I would be happy to consider their findings. But these advocates just keep on building on the foundation of so-called "settled science" that has been shown to be fraudulent. Every day another story breaks about how this or that study has been intentionally misrepresented or made up out of whole cloth. There is no reliability to the data.

A real "Science Guy" would look at this situation and conclude that better data is needed, and re-do a lot of the work that has been tainted. A real "Science Guy" would never base a conclusion on data he could not trust.

But Bill Nye, Science Guy, has shown himself to be a hack. He is more invested in the outcome than in the validity of the science. This is the opposite of science. This could better be called "acting on faith alone". He is Bill Nye, Environmentalist, or Bill Nye, Politician. But he has no right to call himself a "Science Guy" if he is going to ignore the need to be objective about the underlying data.

So, screw you, Bill Nye
Not Really a Science Guy.
Turn in you Lab Coat.

Sincerely, Haiku Guy (Science Guy)

One of his instructors was Carl Sagan.

It figures. He's adopted his mentor's penchant for infusing his "science" with left-wing ideology.

According to Nye, it’s easier to sell the theory of anthropogenic global warming to younger generations since “older people” have a harder time with the concept.

Classic liberal approach: appeal to the pride and arrogance of young people by telling them that if they believe what liberals say then they are smarter than their parents.

I will believe in global warming, excuse me man made climate change when the gorebots can answer these questions:
(1) The last glacial maximum ended 20,000 years ago, what caused it to end?
(2) The little ice age began approximately 800 years ago, what caused it?
(3) While the little ice age “ended” in the 1850, what caused it to end?
(4) Follow up on questions 3, did it really end?
(5) Why are many of the same people that are screaming about global warming, when in the 1970s they were saying we were entering a new ice age?

According to Nye, it’s easier to sell the theory of anthropogenic global warming to younger generations since “older people” have a harder time with the concept.

Surely it is easier to indoctrinate people to believe faleshoods if one starts from the cradle. They can be told the articles of faith, from an age where they can not understand, and are not equipped to challenge them rationally. Then, when they are older, they will defend their faith against rational challenges, because they "know" the truth. It is a settled matter.

Trying to indoctrinate an older person is much more difficult. When presented with an article of faith, the older person is equipped to analyse it objectively, and compare it to what he knows to be true. If you tell an mature person it is warm, he is liable to look out the window and see three feet of snow on the ground and conclude that you are incorrect. One has to appeal to the person's trust in higher authority. If those authorities are shown to be unreliable, convincing the mature mind is almost impossible.

Look at the teaching of religious faith for an example of this phenomenon. As the Jesuits say, "Give me a child until the age of eight, and I will give you the man". If the articles of faith can be established in the mind of the child from the earliest age, he will maintain that faith for the rest of his life. This is why parents who wish to raise wise and God-fearing children should begin religious instruction on the first Sunday after birth, and maintain it until the child leaves home.

The alternative is to try to convince the rational child of ten or fifteen years, which is almost impossible. By that time the ship has sailed, and you are in for much rougher sledding. It is still worth doing, of course. It is just much more difficult.

I say this as a person who is whole-heartedly in favor of indoctrinating children into religious faith, who wishes more parents would be smarter about it. Because if the parents don't indoctrinate their children, the State will get first crack at them when they enter preschool, and fill their heads with whatever leftist or environmental claptrap is the style of the time. Somebody is going to tell your child what to believe. Do you want it to be you, or Bill Nye, "Science Guy"?

“(5) Why are many of the same people that are screaming about global warming, when in the 1970s they were saying we were entering a new ice age?”

My favorite flip flop is with regards to the little plastic grocery bags. I remember the screaming about paper grocery bags causing the Amazon rainforest to be wiped out, so we moved to plastic bags. Now the solution to the rain forest issue, is being demonized...

Libtards are sad and angry with their own lives, so they will never, ever be satisfied. They will alway push their anger and sadness on the rest of society.

I just finished reading “Boys Should be Boys” by Dr. Meg Meeker. It is a pretty good book on how to raise boys to become great men. One area that she addresses is religeon. Dr. Meeker’s opinion is that boys actually yearn for religeon and their natural tendancy is to know that a higher being (or life calling) exists.

I tend to agree and I think that is one reason that indoctrination of the young, in the absence of being raised in faith, is so diserable of the left.
