I got a response that I saw in "My Comments" that said Sarah supports amnesty. Investigating it, I found this. Read the entire interview in which she states that she's for McCain/Bush style amnesty.

Amnesty is the most dangerous thing we could do because it would automatically give voting rights to up to 40,000,000 socialist-leaning new Americans!

Maybe the anti-Palin nuts will find something that sticks.

But I doubt it.

If Palin’s for amnesty, then I would never be able to vote for her to become POTUS.

I don’t believe it. I have heard her state many times that she is for immigration, LEGAL immigration. She has also stated she is against illegal immigration, and wants to make it easier for people to come here legally.

I think they must have misquoted or transformed her words, because I find it hard to believe Palin would support amnesty, considering what other things she supports.

Perhaps you should read her more recent comments where she is firmly against amnesty.

Hey Jim! How many times have we seen this Univision, ‘Palin is for amnesty’ thread? 10, 15, 20+ times?

I’ve been hoping for the best in her, but after she endorsed McCain over Hayworth [what a mistake], I have been more curious about this.

This would be my first question if I ever had a chance to ask Palin something. If she’s for amnesty, I don’t want her entering the primary.

I realize she needed to position herself back during the McCain disaster. Now she’s free from that. She needs to convince us.

I would prefer to hear her say something like, “We already have a path to citizenship and thousands of people avail themselves to the process every year.”

Maybe you should have posted the relevant Q&A completely.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They’ve got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Amnesty is a slap in the face to every immigrant that ever
came to this country legally and worked their tail off to
learn our language, and build a new life.

Amnesty no, a path to citizenship yes. Big difference.

I didn’t find the amnesty quotes at the link, but when running with McCain, Palin expressed support for all his policies, which was completely appropriate.

As I recall McCain’s plan, it involved people returning to Mexico (or wherever) and waiting a period of years for a legal reentry. Correct me if I’m wrong. In any event, people would not even go near it because they are so opposed to amnesty.

You realize you are misrepresenting her answer, do you not?

For those of you who didn't click through to this section of the interview (which dates to October, 2008 when Palin was McCain's VP nominee, by the way), here is what Palin actually said:

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

"No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides."

You, sir, should be ashamed of yourself. Cheap trick.

Palin’s pedestal is beginning to crumble.

Whoever is giving her advice is destroying her. A statement like this would get her booted from the Tea Party convention. American citizens and legal resident aliens have been shouldering the burden of paying for illegal line jumping invading leeches for far too long.
