Not a clue of who he is. A run of the mill Texas Democrat Congresscritter who loved booze and broads and was seduced by a very wealthy conservative female who convinced him to support aid to the Afghan Mujaheddin fighting the Soviet invasion back in the 80s.

"He didn't win the Cold War single-handedly, but he did succeed in getting House Democrats to back Reagan's foreign policy in Afghanistan, which was quite a stretch for them. " I should have added the "/s" tag to my comment. I was being facetious, but I didn't want to dance so overtly on the man's very fresh grave.
When I watched that movie, I was stunned that Reagan's name wasn't mentioned once - not one time. If a person relied on that movie to paint their historical perspective on those events, they would be grossly misinformed.
