WASHINGTON -- Snow, wind and slush hounded eastern commuters Wednesday as blizzard warnings from Baltimore to New York City heralded the second major storm in a region already blanketed by historic weekend snowfalls.
More than 10 inches of new snow fell before dawn in parts of Maryland that had received up to 30 inches just a few days earlier. Plows and salt spreaders fought heavy snow in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where the flakes briefly turned to rain to make a slushy mix.

The irony.......
Wow. What a tough time for anyone who has a medical emergency!
Thanks!
Bingo! I wonder what was playing.
An interesting sidelight of history.
I had never heard about that disaster.
Gov. Rendell has closed down many of the major PA highways: 83, 81, 78, 76 ,476, 176.
Turnpike remains open; also 80.
I know. It’s pretty fascinating. A great story for a snowy day.
I hope the plow comes soon :)
I agree with you 100 %
Might as well wait now, the wind is blowing like crazy. It will just blow back on the road.
The snow is wet and heavy here in south Jersey. We shoveled twice today, but it’s still snowing.
How much do you have on the ground?
We got maybe 3 inches today and it quit snowing for a while. It’s started again, just a few flakes falling lazily down. No winds to speak of, but i do need to get out and shovel myself.
I remember the days of lake effect where it would snow 5 inches an hour and by the time you had cleared the driveway once, it had almost 6 inches on it again for you to start over with.
Nor’easter snow is wet and heavy. It looks like there’s another storm in the works for early next week.
If you guys don’t get some warmer weather to melt some of it before it rains, you’re looking at an ice storm and flooding. One of the causes of ice storms is warm air moving in and causing rain, before the surfaces of everything get to warm up. Since the trees and everything are still below freezing, the rain freezes on contact.
We have 2 inches now, and the snow has picked up. I’ve yet to do any shoveling.
this was an interesting read :)
Beware in D.C.: Idiot drivers are out in snow

I suspect that it was sent by my guardian angel to get me home safely.
I know I was saying the rosary all the way home that night.
Still have not heard anything about where I teach, but we still have blizzard warnings up for another 2 hours.
I can’t tell how much snow we got altogether this time because we kept clearing it, piling it on top of the old snow. After I shoveled last this afternoon, there looks to be just another few inches more snow on the ground since then. (I’m relieved.)
Some offices and the local college decided to close tomorrow, and the library won’t open ‘til late. But, I’m supposed to be somewhere tomorrow, so I hope the roads are clear by then.
Winter sucks sometimes.
Let me know how you make out in the next few days. There’s supposed to be another storm coming early next week.
I will. I have drs appts so it better clear up & melt. It is so still outside, nobody even going anywhere which seems so odd. Even the older kids didn’t have snow ball fights today.
