WASHINGTON -- Snow, wind and slush hounded eastern commuters Wednesday as blizzard warnings from Baltimore to New York City heralded the second major storm in a region already blanketed by historic weekend snowfalls.
More than 10 inches of new snow fell before dawn in parts of Maryland that had received up to 30 inches just a few days earlier. Plows and salt spreaders fought heavy snow in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, where the flakes briefly turned to rain to make a slushy mix.

Could the snowpocalypse and snowmageddon become Barry’s Katrina? That may sound far fetched but the heavily populated east coast is very vulnerable to interuptions in transportation of food, fuel, etc. With the lack of snow clearing equipment and expertise around DC, things could get ugly quick if things do not improve.
Also their is another system coming ashore in California which may be taking aim at the deep south and could also make a run up the Atlantic coast. If that happens, you will see some real panic in the DC metro area.
Al Gore has done a groundhog. Once these storms hit, he headed underground for 6 more weeks of winter. I see he is sheduled to give a speech in Phoenix on Feb 27, but it is not on climate, but on EDUCATION.

We are well prepared here. Even if we were getting hit like this, it wouldn’t cause nearly the problems. We’re too used to it.
Heck, where we used to live, they didn’t even break out the plows until there was 6 inches. You just drove through it.
Up in the north country, near Watertown, they don’t even bother plowing, they just pack if down and put sand on top of it and keep going. Let it melt in the spring.
We hardly have any wind yet. The snow has been coming almost straight down.
Alexandria, Va., emergency services issued a warning, “Due to blizzard conditions and near-zero visibility on the roadways, to protect the safety of city employees and residents, all snowplowing operations have been temporarily suspended until weather conditions improve.”

The National Weather Service on Wednesday used the phrases “extremely dangerous” and “life-threatening blizzard” to describe conditions in Baltimore and Washington, which have both set records this week for the snowiest seasons ever. Wind gusts have reached as high as 60 miles per hour as the blizzard passed through the region.

Blizzard conditions are defined by snowfall rates but more by sustained winds over 35 MPH.
They specifically defined *blizzard* after the Blizzard of 77 that hit Buffalo. Every time they said blizzard, people panicked and stayed home. It was so disruptive, that they set the criteria for what a blizzard was and don’t use the term unless it’s expected to reach that.
If I were told blizzard conditions were expected, I WOULD make sure we had the essentials and would go out and stock up and hunker down.

I never thought I would say this it is something I used to hate to hear, but after all the hype about globle warming climate change or whatever all the talk and all the money spent to me it seemed gore and those other people had a point because it did seem to be we had no winter weather to speak of for years. God truely does work in mysterious ways He stepped in and showed them all who was boss.
