Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.

The “Miss Me Yet?” billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maney’s t-shirts) is cute. But let’s not get carried away with nostalgia.

President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:

1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;

2) massively expanded the federal role in education;

3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;

4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;

5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;

6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;

7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;

8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;

9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:

“I’ve abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system.” – George W. Bush

No, I don’t miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.

By the time the lake effect snow ended here in Cleveland, we had 42” over a 9-day period. Thankfully, it was the light fluffy stuff and not the heavy wet stuff. We’re used to it here.

I'm not messing with the shovel. I have a strong, healthy husband who does all the work these days. :)

Actually I love snow, and I love shoveling, so it's hard not to get out there and do the work. I also love raking leaves, mowing lawns and doing gardening, but have had to put all those things on hold for at least a while longer.

I just find this massive snowfall SO much fun. I truly believe (not trying to be flippant) that it is God's wonderful sense of humor being revealed and that He is sending a message to the AGW idiots and the American people, that HE is still in charge of the weather, as He has always been.

We've got some really light stuff now and it is starting to blow with a vengeance. Best to stay in and enjoy it through the window. :)

What’s kind of comical, in a pathetic sort of way, is how the city people go absolutely bonkers over a few inches of snow. Absolutely PARALYZES the city. And when something like this monster storm hits, it’s even worse.

Glad I don’t live in the city anymore. Pride myself on being self-sufficent and prepared.

I know what you mean. 2” of snow and their shut down.

But large storms like this do happen. I’ve spoken with a lot of people, and a lot of them are not prepared when they lose power for three days (like I have during the dead of winter). I have kerosene lamps, a kerosene heater, and a little propane stove to heat up water and food. Now, that doesn’t take much planning there.

Interesting, however, how you threaten legitimate posters yet ignore the rantings of your sick buddy who's been whining and crying about my calling the mods on him and getting him banned, when it never occurred.

Looks like you both need some emotional maturation so you can get a grip on the reality of being on a conservative board. (Actually, it would help if you were both conservative, but it's pretty clear that you're the one of the two of you who actually is one. Not all grown up yet, but at least you're on the right side of the proverbial aisle).

btw, since you and sick are "friends" maybe you can suggest a good counselor for him? Like the one in the college clinic? :)

Planning and preparedness is natural for some folks; in others it must be taught.

And then there’re those who just think it’s fine and dandy to steal from the others that DO plan and prepare.

And that’s another reason why we have the Second Amendment and those who plan and prepare embrace it...

Kinda leaves the "very nice person" scenario out of the picture.

I can forgive the young, the inexperienced, the slavish agreement with anything that bashes President Bush, even the incessant pinging of a crowd when he insults others, but the lies are intolerable.....and they are incessant.

Anyone who lies deliberately and repeatedly on this forum is here for one purpose, IMO. To hurt conservatism.
