I have a son who will be ten. I guarantee you he has no idea what a condom is for, or even that condoms exist. I plan to keep it that way until he is the proper age to know —which I will determine— and I kindly invite Planned Parenthood and their ilk to mind their own damned business.

A quick internet search doesn’t show any significant number of births for girls ten or 11. But girls 14 and less brought 6000+ babies into the world in 2007. Which was the lowest number of births to girls 14 and under since 1955.

Well, you should drop him a line and your parents, too. It's amazing how much a “subtle” reminder can do when they know you're interested. My kid just sends me an email and tells me to look for 5 ideas and he'll pick 2. So, I shop the on-line catalogs and send him the page with my size and color. He can't screw it up. Since my birthday is the week before, I hit the jackpot. That, in turn, gets an email from me asking what he wants. It's always the same — cash. No imagination, but I'm glad. Whenever he gets creative, it gets expensive. ;-)
