In debate with Shami, White directs his attention at Perry By R.G. RATCLIFFE Austin Bureau Feb. 8, 2010, 10:38PM FORT WORTH
Former Houston Mayor Bill White largely ignored his main Democratic gubernatorial opponent in a statewide debate Monday to frame himself as the politically experienced candidate who can take on Republican Gov. Rick Perry in the general election.
White criticized Perry by name or inference six times during his face-off with businessman Farouk Shami. Governor Perry talks about holding teachers accountable, but he doesn't hold himself accountable for his job performance, White snapped at one point while discussing electric rates. White never mentioned the other Republicans in the race for the GOP nomination, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and activist Debra Medina.
White has said he believes Perry will win the Republican nomination. Shami, who has built a successful international hair-care business, kept selling himself with generalities about how he could bring jobs to Texas and act as the state's chief executive officer. As governor, everybody will have a job, Shami said, promising that if he does not create 100,000 jobs in two years he will pay the state $10 million. But Shami's lack of political experience sometimes tripped him up, and his lack of English-language fluency could make his points sound jarring. In one part of the debate he was explaining why he opposes a border wall and how the United States needs Mexican workers. Without Mexicans, it would be like a day without sunshine, Shami said.

Funny movie................
Yep, this is most readily apparent in Mexico itself. Mexico’s future is so bright they gotta wear shades.
Mmmmmm......I’ll take clouds, thank you.
“his lack of English-language fluency could make his points sound jarring”
...We need job money for future of star alone state.
Without Mexicans, it would be like a day without sunshine....
Or gunfire.....
I keep wondering how a “Rag Head” can come to our country and try to tell us what we need to do.
We don’t take too kindly when a “Farener” comes around tellin us what to do.
Kinda like the Indonesian Fraud in the People House.
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
One of this liberal democrats ads say the same thing that obamma’s ad was about the day he’s elected is the day Texas changes. Shami should change his name to Sham
I’ve started calling him “Sham-Wow” because I am simply amazed at some of the bizarre statements he makes.
This guy is a fruit loop. I’m voting for Medina. Didn’t even bother watching this debate. It was kind of laughed off on my local talk show.
Whomever made the law that a child born of illegal aliens in the U.S. is to become an instant U.S. citizen, made a critical mistake. Once here, who would ever leave?
An occasional eclipse might not be a bad thing where Mexicans are involved...
I’m voting for Medina as well. I haven’t watched any of the debates, no reason to, there is no other choice for a true conservative but Medina.
So let the sun shine in Mexico. Mexico for Mexicans, America for Americans.
I live in CA and a state without illegal aliens and their spawn would be the dwan of a new golden age.
BTW. My gardener is a young white college grad who can’t find work in his field. (Enviromental Engineer).
There are plenty of workers out there if you pay a decent wage. There are no jobs that American’s won’t do.
TX dim Gov debate ping.
I see what you mean. I’m glad we’re helping Mexico realize that drop to 10 in 100,000 murder-rate. Even murderers like the US. Killing Americans Americans won’t kill.
