They said they investigated. They never said they investigated particularly hard or with any real competence. Well, technically, I suppose, he didn't go to Columbia "University". He (apparently) went to Columbia "College", which is located within the campus of Columbia University.

Well, technically, I suppose, he didn’t go to Columbia “University”. He (apparently) went to Columbia “College”, which is located within the campus of Columbia University.
That’s like saying someone didn’t go to the Galleria Mall, they only went to Macy’s which is located within the Galleria Mall.
Columbia College is where Columbia University began several centuries ago. The original liberal arts college expaned into a large university.
