I owe a debt that cannot be repaid to the Marines. When I see a Marine in a restaurant, I discretely talk to their waiter/waitress and pay their bill in gratitude to what Obama would call "the Marine Corpse", always. The smile that brings them is priceless but does nothing to pay what I really owe. God bless the USMC.

In 2006, Representative Murtha became better known to the public in general for his very public accusations against a group of Marines serving in Iraq. He accused them of cold-blooded murder in what was referred to as the Haditha Massacre. Those Marines spent two-years in prison in Camp Pendleton. They were eventually cleared of the charges that had been made against them. Murtha never acknowledged the damage he had done to their lives and the reputation of the Marine Corp and never apologized for making the accusations.

It was strongly suspected that Murtha accused the Haditha Marines in order to help the democrats gain a majority in the House of Representatives and to get appointed at the House Majority Leader. The democrats gained a majority in the House that year, but Murtha did not get the position he requested.

I have nothing to say about Murtha, except that he is the only ex-Marine I have ever met and one of the few I have heard of.
