President Obama the scold

By: Carol E. Lee February 8, 2010 04:46 AM EST

For a president who ran on uplifting themes like change and hope, Barack Obama spends an awful lot of time scolding Americans about how he hopes they’ll change.

He has advised parents to “replace that video game with a book and make sure that homework gets done.” He has urged members of Congress not to read blogs or watch 24-hour cable news. And he’s challenged lobbyists, lawmakers, bankers, journalists, insurance companies and other heads of state to do a better job.

He’s prodded people to get off the couch, eat healthier and exercise more. He’s even suggested Americans buy stocks, U.S.-made cars and energy-efficient light bulbs, while cautioning them not to max out their credit cards.

At times, having Obama in the Oval Office is like having a really powerful Dr. Phil around.

But lately, Obama’s tsk-tsking has gotten him into some trouble. At the very moment he’s trying to recover his declining popularity and revive his party heading into the November elections, even some Democrats worry that he risks coming off not as the inspirational figure who galvanized the electorate in 2008 but as the embodiment of a dour Democrat that turns off some voters.

Dee Dee Myers, a former White House press secretary under President Bill Clinton, pointed out that, while Obama has long promised to tell people the truth even when it hurts, he needs to strike a balance. “Part of what people liked about him during the campaign is that he talks to the American people like they’re grown-ups — you don’t have to pretend that you can eat ice cream and lose weight in order to be president,” Myers said.

OBAMA scolding the American Folks is not the problems.

He continues to favor his political associates (ACORN, SEIU, Teacher's Unions, etc) in almost every piece of legislation passed in the last year. he does not know how to day no to his friends.

On that, he could use a scolding!

His speeches are written by a 28 year old punk whose previous job was to listen to monitor talk radio for the Kerry Campaign.

It isn't just the fact that Obama is a Marxist man-child which makes him this way. It's the fact that everyone else he knows is also a Marxist man-child.

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.

Oldie but not so goodie from the Kenyan. Not that he didn’t warn us.

It bizarre to have a president who lacks the self-control to quit smoking assign himself the responsibility to scold everyone else. Of course, his proclivity to take on the role of national nanny is quite consistent with his political vision of turning the U.S. into a nanny-state. In that regard, I hope he keeps it up, as it provides a daily reminder to tens of millions of Americans why handing power to the progressives is a spectacularly bad idea.

Sorry Dee Dee, your a koolaid-er too... Here’s my advise to anyone who cares, “don’t listen to anyone who drank the koolaid, regardless their tone, for once a koolaid-er always a koolaid-er...”

Yeah, dee dee, that was real man-to-man talk with the American people. From a guy who works in shirt sleevs and keep the WH at hothouse temps, and gets a pass because “he’s from Hawaii”

“I think if everybody here — excuse all the members of the press who are here — if everybody here turned off your CNN, your Fox, your — just turn off the TV — MSNBC, blogs — and just go talk to folks out there, instead of being in this echo chamber where the topic is constantly politics,”

That's not a complete sentence.

Yes, everybody needs to make sacrifices...except for him and the democraps. He takes vacations to Hawaii, flies personal chefs in into DC, and million dollar dates to NYC; and Pelosi flies her family around on government tax payer paid military jets...

Bambi is incapable of forming complete sentences. He has perfected a fusion of Hitler’s harangues and a species of Valley Girl babble that says absolutely nothing.

DD, just what planet were you on during the campaign?

Any way there is a huge difference between talking to
people “like” grown-ups and talking to them
“AS” grown-ups.

I cannot wait to be rid of these people!
