I believe I shocked the group that I was with when I declared, loudly and repeatedly:

“That’s when we start shooting back.”

Hmm...good point. Overall, however, I thought it showed the idiocy and tyranny of the Greenie facists. I have no doubt that is what would happen if we sit back and let it.

Makes me glad I zeroed my green carbine this weekend.

OK...I didn't need to zero it, but I still went through about 500 rounds just to make sure my zero was still good ;-)

My Audi has taken me over 160 on regular gas and it gets over 30 on the highway crusing at 80

it's a full sized four door with every bell and whistle

I love it

Audi is going for the “luxury” car market. If you don’t fit in that market then don’t buy one.

They’ll survive without you.

My Audi salesman proudly stated Audi do not use recycled steel. The aluminum might be recycled beer cans but that is not the point. These are the best mass production vehicles on the road. Drive one and you’ll never want to drive anything but an Audi.

Like I was gonna buy one anyway. I used to work on ‘em. They only get NPR on the radio.

I hated the ad because it seemed they were accepting of the green police idea. Maybe I need to see it again to appreciate that it was sarcasm? Not sure.

Just read that commentary from the bedwetting liberal greenie author.

What gets me is the assumption that consuming less resources is “moral”.

From whence does this assumption come? Why is it moral to consume less? Global warming? ha!

The thing is with the commercial, is the green police would let the Audi through with “clean diesel” through for NOW, but eventually they’ll get him, too. I can’t imagine them liking diesel any more than they like regular gas. I think this ad, whether it’s attempt either way was noble, will open some eyes.

Why is gluttony a sin?

It’s troubling because it mocks it and capitulates to it at the same time. Elitists for conformity. It’s a disconnect.

Get in bed with the state and sooner or later you will be owned by the state.

Firstly, because it’s bad for you.
Secondly, it’s focussing your attention on yourself and your own lusts.

Now, what does gluttony have to do with the moral superiority of using an ugly CFL over an incandescent, or putting my family in a large safe car instead of a cracker box death trap, or for that matter, having 1 child instead of 7?

I drive an Audi, 6 cyl 5 valve. It’s NEVER had NPR on the radio.

I thought it was a terrible ad. I would never buy an Audi after that, since it seemed to support the idea of the Green Police.

I didn't think it was funny at all.

In your own words....

it’s focussing your attention on yourself and your own lusts.

BTW, when it comes to cars, safe is a relative terms. Not all gas hogs are safer than cracker boxes. Depends on the crash. And in terms of safety, a car's best safety feature is still a good driver.

And on the fuel efficency thing, I think a hot car that gets good mileage is cool. When it saves me money as well as gas, I'll take a look at one :)

This ad won’t work with average Americans. It might appeal to greenies or Audi owners that look at their cars as status statements in the green movement, but average Joes were likely turned off by this commercial.

Yeah, sure, incandescent bulbs, safe cars, and “being fruitful and multiplying” are “self focussed on our own lusts”. Sure they are...

I have yet to find anywhere in the Bible that it advocates a gov’t gun stuck to our heads to make us more “moral” by YOUR definition or any other.

What’s a statist doing on FReeRepublic anyway?
