Jeri Thompson blasted Fox News host Chris Wallace on the Fred Thompson show today, calling his joke that he hoped Sarah Palin would sit on his lap during an interview with him "inappropriate" and "insipid," and demanding "action from Fox.
Thompson, the wife of the former senator and presidential candidate, told POLITICO's Jonathan Martin that the remark, to Fox Business's Don Imus, amounted to misogyny, and that she was tired of seeing it from "these dirty old men" on Fox, a network that she said ought to be respectful of conservative women.
"Sarah Palin is now part of the Fox family," Thompson said on the show. "She deserves you all watching her back -- and I do not mean it literally."
Wallace, she said, "owes her an apology."
"Not only is she a national figure she deserves the respect that any other man would get in that situation," Thompson said, saying that her inbox was full of complaints from conservative women over the segment, and that the Palin group Team Sarah, as well as the anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List, were dismayed by the segment.
"I hope that Fox does something about this, and they actually take this on, because it is not funny," Thompson said.

I agree and if the joke was about Michelle Obama he would be fired you can bet on that.

I wouldn’t mind if she sat on my lap either.
My wife and Todd might have some opposition to that, though. ;-)
Jeri needs to get over it.
Sorry, Preacher, but you are wrong on this one. This isn’t about being PC, or hyper-sensitive, but about acting with some class and having good manners. By virtue of even talking with Imus, Wallace set himself up for making this off-the-cuff remark. Wallace typically acts in a respectful manner, so why talk with Imus who has no class or manners, or audience??? I wish all so-called Conservatives would stop giving the Libs the time of day - stop being on their shows and giving them ammo. That Wallace had to chase down Palin for 18 months to get an interview is very interesting.
I think Dianne Feinstein is attractive for her age. SF wasn’t the sinkhole it is now when she was mayor.
Since Ms. Palin is conservative, the hypocritical womens’ movement won’t call Chris on this.
I think you’re probably correct for a good portion of the country, but I’m up here in the Northeast where Palin-trashing is proper cocktail party drivel.
I don’t think her hair has moved since she was mayor of SF.
Where I work is geographically located in the belly of the beast so I hear ya. But an apology would get us no mileage with the leftist crowd.
Media Matters For America is who is fussing about this and we fall for it?

Aw jeez. I think Wallace was clearly being complimentary of Palin.
Maybe Jeri needs to set on Fred’s lap more.
But Feinstein is very intelligent and not your average run of the mill leftie.
Chris Wallace is a chip off the old block his father, Mike Wallace.....BOTH PATHETIC!!
Jeri is FABULOUS!!!
You’re right—an apology wouldn’t get us or her any mileage. But it might put male reporters on notice for the future.
I've always worried that we would begin to adopt the tactics of the left and it appears that it's happening. If we must now be politically correct, then it's all over.
If Sarah were to make a comment about Scott Brown's good looks -- which I could see her doing in good humor -- would we have to condemn her, too? Give it a break, folks.
Once upon a time, complimenting someone's physical attractiveness was considered a good thing.
