Jeri Thompson blasted Fox News host Chris Wallace on the Fred Thompson show today, calling his joke that he hoped Sarah Palin would sit on his lap during an interview with him "inappropriate" and "insipid," and demanding "action from Fox.
Thompson, the wife of the former senator and presidential candidate, told POLITICO's Jonathan Martin that the remark, to Fox Business's Don Imus, amounted to misogyny, and that she was tired of seeing it from "these dirty old men" on Fox, a network that she said ought to be respectful of conservative women.
"Sarah Palin is now part of the Fox family," Thompson said on the show. "She deserves you all watching her back -- and I do not mean it literally."
Wallace, she said, "owes her an apology."
"Not only is she a national figure she deserves the respect that any other man would get in that situation," Thompson said, saying that her inbox was full of complaints from conservative women over the segment, and that the Palin group Team Sarah, as well as the anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List, were dismayed by the segment.
"I hope that Fox does something about this, and they actually take this on, because it is not funny," Thompson said.

Wallace said the exact thing on Mike Gallagher’s radio show on Friday. I heard it myself and was a little surprised.
But she is correct. Palin is not a pin up girl and treating her like that only lessens her.
Calling it insipid and whatever, I’m down with. Demanding action makes her look foolish.
I hope Chris doesn’t apologize. Especially after calling Sarah out on the Rahm/Rush/Retard thing. She just got a little of her own back, that’s all. Serves him right. I watched the FNS interview. Chris was clearly annoyed with Sarah for not coming on sooner, annoyed at having to go to Nashville and mingle with Tea Partiers (eww, real people! Get me back to DC! Whaddya mean there’s a blizzard!) But she went toe to toe with him, not just held her own but talked over him, corrected him, made her points, mocked him when he was condescending (you don’t know? That’s not very good analysis. Fire me, Roger, I’ve failed already). I listen to Fred and Jeri every day. If Jeri wants an apology she should get it from Imus for the question, putting Chris on the spot. How should he have gotten out of it? It’s ridiculous.
I am disappointed that Wallace said this in public. We all know when men get together they can raunchy, but in public it is unacceptable. Women don’t like it. Saying she is beautiful, fine, but no touching or lusting. Coveting your neighbor’s wife is wrong. Simple.
Yeahh. Apologize. That's the ticket.
Chris Wallace has now joined the ranks of men that have not the ability to engage the brain above their waist. They may as well just use their heads for a whistle for all the good it does them.
It’s mind boggling the piss ant males that won’t take Obama on and CALL HIM OUT on his lies, but just mealy mouth about it, can always make off color remarks about women just like the lefty loonies do.
It was still rude of Wallace to “hope” for such a thing.
What’s wrong with his wife?
He does have a wife, doesn’t he? or is he a gay blade??
Those darn pissants. I tell ya
“Is there some reason you keep using the r word?”
It was sarcastic. Enough of the PC hypersensitivity.
“Conservatives should be reserved and polite in public settings, so Wallace should not have said what he said. But all of the high dudgeon that this joke amounts to discrimination is a pile of bull. As others above have said, too many GOP women have accepted, embraced an adopted the noxious and illogical position of the feminists. And then they wonder why leftism is on the march? “
I couldn’t have said that any better myself.
Give me a break! Wallace wears make-up, smiles nice, then throws out questions for others to pontificate. This is followed by a FOX News Break, with some hot babe with lots of lip gloss. Breaking News FOXNEWS, combines sex with news. Hey, it works for me, I still have enough male hormones coursing through my veins to admit it. You want worse watch NICK at Nite or Disney. How about the top TV shows in the country. Imus is a old school shock jock, and this stuff is his shtick. 99.999% of the country would have missed this if Jeri would have left it between Palin & Wallace. Wallace is a talking head, he is no Tony Snow or even Brit Hume. I can understand the agnst with FOX, men get babes in lip gloss and women get Wallace and (shutter) Imus.
I remember some stuff about Chris Matthews and someone else on MSLSD fantasizing aloud about Jeri Thompson “working the pole” or some such vulgarity. The fact that a woman in politics is attractive (or a woman on FOX is attractive) is not a license for “reporters” or commentators to begin airing their personal fantasies. It’s uncalled for and erodes their credibility—and they are talking about someone’s daughter, someone’s mother, someone’s wife...
You talking such talk in the privacy of your home or even on a chat board talking to me is one thing. But the principal news anchor on one of the Sunday shows doing it? It’s not just childish, it’s pathetic.
The best pimp in town, LOL.
You are correct, sir! V’s wife.
PB, you are dead on accurate! Good shot. V’s wife.
PB, you are dead on accurate! Good shot. Vs wife.
Fo shizzle!
Seems Wallace was blindsided by Imus. But you are right in that he (Wallace) makes a living with words and is judged by his use of them. I do not take him as serious as some.
