Governor Sarah Palin was the keynote speaker tonight at the conclusion of the Tea Party Convention held in Nashville, TN.  We have the links to watch her speech later in this email, so keep reading!

A note of clarification: We here at the Tea Party Express did not organize this event, another organization - Tea Party Nation - put on the convention.  Some of you wrote in to us asking about ticket prices, etc... but we weren't involved in any of that planning.

We were proud, howver, to send our Grassroots & Coalitions Director, Amy Kremer, to meet other tea party activists and discuss plans for the future of this movement - and how we can best bring about the change we all are fighting for.  Amy was also asked to speak on a panel advising tea party activists on how to work using online social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, NING, etc...), emails, websites, Action Alerts, and more - so that people can connect with one another and take action.

I was so moved by Palin’s speech tonight.

I thought it was even better than the one given at the RNC in ‘08 when she was announced as McCain’s VP pick. And the thing is, she wasn’t as “perfect” in this one in terms of style. In ‘08, there were no slips of the tongue, no moments the lamestreamers can “Couric-ify” if you will. There was no hint of weariness from the various battlefields she would eventually endure...(on the trail, in the media, in Alaska upon her return, including seeing her church be burned!, etc...)

Some other things to note about the “time that has passed”

In ‘08 she had just given BIRTH to Trig—she hadn’t yet experienced the wonder of watching him grow as she raises him...I was so moved when she broke into tears while talking about him and other children with special needs today. I can only imagine what statistics like “90% plus are aborted” can weigh on her heart, when it can just be a mere number to most people.

In ‘08, Track was about to leave for Iraq, she hadn’t yet dealt with a year of agonizing over his safety and well-being while overseas. Acknowledging our veterans isn’t just cliche political rhetoric for Palin, it hits at her core.

In ‘08, there was lots of speculation about Obama’s vague leftist promises, now we literally are dealing with a country at the brink...with sooo much at stake.

And now. Wow. This speech was full of substance and meat about policies and what have you, but I thought it was moving because of how much her soul emerged. One can sense what she’s put up with and been willing to go through in order to FIGHT for us, FIGHT for this country, for causes that could very easily seem impossible to believe in at this point. She’s a leader, but she’s not merely the kind that’ll give the right orders—she’s the kind that’ll be willing to lay her own life down for the men and women around her.

You can’t “fake” that no matter how hard you try. You can’t “rehearse” that kind of genuineness.

And then her Q and A session was even more remarkable. She hearkened back to the original God-fearing spirit of America. She reminded us of our need to seek divine intervention and God’s will in all things. That to me, was the highlight of her remarks of the convention—and it may just seem like a sidenote to some people.

Obviously, it’s her faith that keeps her going. Quite extraordinary. I am continually amazed by her ability to bring out both the best and worst out in people. It’s because God’s allowed much of His light to shine through her in times which are so very, very dark, and it’s been really wonderful to witness.

Gotta keep praying for this country!

Palin tells 'tea party': It's revolution time

Sarah Palin declared "America is ready for another revolution" and repeatedly assailed President Barack Obama on Saturday before adoring "tea party" activists. They make up a seemingly natural constituency should she run for president.

"This movement is about the people," the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said as the crowd roared. "Government is supposed to be working for the people."

Palin note Democrats' electoral losses since Obama took office a year ago with talk of hope and promises of change and asked: "How's that hope-y, change-y stuff workin' out for you?"

Catering to her crowd, Palin talked of limited government, strict adherence to the Constitution, and the "God-given right" of freedom. She said the "fresh, young and fragile" movement is the future of American politics because it's "a ground-up call to action" to both major political parties to change how they do business. "You've got both party machines running scared," she said.

Palin suggested that the party should remain leaderless and cautioned against allowing the movement to be defined by any one person. "This is about the people" and "it's a lot bigger than any charismatic guy with a teleprompter," she said, jabbing at Obama.

It looked like a test run to see which parts worked best. The delivery was scattered at best but the audience was a real gamble too on what they would be receptive to.

I thought it was a nice trial run to get together a message and it hit a few home runs.

Palin addresses US 'Tea Party'

Sarah Palin, the icon of US conservative politics, has addressed delegates to the national convention of the emerging Tea Party movement, proclaiming that America is "ready for another revolution".

Her keynote speech at the convention in the US state of Tennessee on Saturday received several standing ovations from the gathering of about 600 people.

She told delegates she was "speaking on behalf of millions and millions and millions of Americans who want to encourage this movement".

"This is the movement and America is ready for another revolution and you are a part of this," she said.

she is not perfect but maybe that’s the point, we look for perfect people when there is none, but we do indeed look for perfection because the campaigns and parties make these politicians look almost perfect, sound perfect, and act perfect............It’s time that people get real about real people like Sarah Palin.

So far I've watched 19 minutes of her speech and as always she comes across very real and the content is very good. I'm still hesitate to pronounce Ahmadinejad’s name but Sarah rolls such names out easily.

Aside from the minor gaffe of saying “Alaska” when she meant “America” I thought she should have personalized Iran naming a few victims and heroes for freedom there.

Palin whips up a storm at a Tea Party

WASHINGTON — Conservative darling Sarah Palin wowed a new grassroots Republican rightwing movement, vowing 2010 would be a great year, and laying down the gauntlet to President Barack Obama.

And she warned the mainstream Republican party to ignore the so-called "Tea Party" movement at its peril, saying she was "speaking on behalf of millions and millions and millions of Americans who want to encourage this movement."

As Republicans delight in a new found political energy after being routed in the 2008 presidential elections, Palin said the tide was turning in favor of conservative politics ahead of November mid-term congressional elections.

"This is about the people and it's bigger than any king or queen of a tea party and it's a lot bigger than any charismatic guy with a teleprompter," Palin said in a jibe at Obama.

"The soul of this movement is the people. Everyday Americans who grow our food and run our small businesses, teach our kids and fight our wars."

And she heaped further scorn on Obama as a "professor at law standing at the lectern" rather than the nation's commander in chief.

Andrew Breitbart at National Tea Party Convention to Media: “It’s Not Your Business Model That Sucks, It’s You That Sucks”

Andrew Breitbart raised the roof at the National Tea Part Convention this morning in Nashville, Tennessee. Speaking to the dozens of reporters assembled in the back of the room, Andrew said this:
“It’s not your business model that sucks, it’s you that sucks.”

She made that point today that no candidate will be perfect. That applies to ALL candidates as she highlighted. It was a great message. She asked the people to not sit it out because you can’t find the perfect candidate and I 100% agree.
