Oh, my goodness. This is absolutely monstrous. I’m glad the poor thing is not suffering anymore. That’s the only good thing I can say.
The Madera County DA has said that this is the worst case of elder abuse he has encountered. Simply dreadful!
Someone evidently liked her. She had a kid and CPS has taken custody of it.
Life in prison. SHE WAS BEING PAID BY THE STATE to care for the poor old woman. Your tax dollars at work. The home health care agency that arranged this should be charged, too.
This is an outgrowth of the nanny state.
Used to be that family members willingly and without pay, took care of their elderly. Then the State stepped in with tax payers’ money - making it possible for *relatives* to qualify as care-givers. Saving money by not using trained personnel?????
So, in effect, this unqualified cretin was getting $900 from the State to abuse her own aunt.

How tall was this poor woman? The reason I ask is because 35 pounds is ridiculously low. The ‘lean body weight’ (organs, bones, and muscles ——no fat) for a woman that is 4’7” tall is 70 pounds. This woman would most likely have died before reaching the 35 pound mark.

The newscasts keep repeating that she was 35 pounds. I don’t know what her height was. But her weight being 35 is hard to believe though isn’t it?

Absolutely! Why wasn’t the agency check on the condition of the patient ..??
We have a resident in our facility who is getting extra home-type care (between the hours of 5 pm and 7 am) because he is recovering from an illness. The woman who runs the home care agency is constantly dropping by at odd hours just to see what’s going on.
Not only should the agency be charged .. they should have their license revoked and the business shut down.
The agency which licenses our facility requires every potential worker to be FINGERPRINTED and DRUG SCREENED, prior to employment.
However, the home agencies are not required to do that .. but if we have a home care person enter our facility to assist a resident, THEY ARE REQUIRED TO BE FINGERPRINTED AND DRUG SCREENED.
