Brown hits back at Kennedy for ‘joke’ candidacy dig

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A stung U.S. Sen. Scott Brown lashed out at U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy today for insulting his landmark win by calling his candidacy “a joke.”

Brown said Kennedy’s remarks are “mean spirited,” especially coming on the day he was celebrating being sworn into office.

“I was elected and the votes are certified and I’m here to do my job. It’s unfortunate that he would use mean-spirited comments like that at a time when we’re just trying to solve the problems of the Commonwealth,” Brown said today on his first full day on the job.

Any relation to Lizzie?

There’s no doubt in my mind that those Borden who ended up in Fall River passed thru RI, mainly mill workers / owners.

Nothing to be impressed about imho, if genealogy were to be taught in school many many people would find all kinds of links to the famous, near famous, etc (it is TRUE history). I really love it when I find out about someone lost to history - see John Updike in my profile - I would love to go back in time and meet him - a privateer and Son of Liberty during the Revolution. I know for a fact he carried letters for John Adams, his cousin was trained by Benjamin Franklin as a printer, his son in law was an original TEA PARTYer, and he captured British ships (he’s #2 after R. Williams).

Beyond that look at the recent discovery of the early Constituion draft - have a link in my profile - again there’s something about my Updike line that tugs at me, we have written records back to 1296 in Germany & Holland.

Somehow I think whether it is genetic or just oral traditions, I really don’t have a choice imo to be a conservative or not, to be otherwise would be to turn my back on those who came before me.

No, my 8th Borden greatgrandfather moved from R.I. to New Jersey in the 1600s and where they were for generations.
My 6th great grandfather’s brother was the founder of Bordentown, NJ and two of his daus. married signers of the Declaratin of Independence

Yep me too, I’m thinking he has to unfortunately start defending himself from day one...I think his little band here has his back.

He will be re-elected!

Have been doing research for around 35 years+
I tell people who want to do this, you have to know history, geography and sociology

Have researched over 12 5th great grandfathers in the Revolutionary.

Had some in King Phillips.

Traced hundreds of my lines back beyond the Middle Ages in England, etc.

I am a member of The New England Historical & Genealogical Society.

They also have tons of great information and history of early New York and the families.

SoCal, so true.

I feel so blessed to be able to jump in a car and walk cemeteries nearby here in NE or find an old family home etc.

I believe it is history in its purest form.

I love all the characters - rich or poor, famous or not.

Brown should have just commented that he doesn't pay much attention to classless drunks.

Yes, many of the everyday stories and how they lived are interesting.

A 6th great grandfather was in the French and Indian War.
A farmer in New Hampshire in 1750s. He was captured and
was taken with other prisoners of war from the American battle field to Franace. He was later exchanged with other POWs and brought back to America.
His brother a while later heard of the exchange and went from New Hampshire to New York, found him and brought him back home to NH.
Years later, he signed up and was at the Battle of Bunker Hill in the Rev. War.

We ran out of real Kennedys in 1968.

What was left was a joke - on the voters!

They like the term “mean spirited” there.

Liz - I think Brown is a most interesting candidate, and will stand with us more often than not. As to abortion: “Scott “says” he supports Roe v. Wade but he has NOT promised to protect abortion rights, and has been endorsed by the anti-abortion Massachusetts Citizens for Life.” Well, I guess the proof will be in his actions. He will not be leading any charge to overturn Roe v. Wade - methinks...but I’m not sure who will...and that’s a moral dilemma for us all...God help us.
