'I don't know whether Obama's a U.S. citizen'

Tennessee state Senate speaker and gubernatorial candidate Ron Ramsey has joined the growing ranks of officials and prominent commentators who say they are unsure of whether President Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen.

Ramsey was asked Feb. 2 about the issue by Maclin Davis, a former state lawmaker and attorney for the state GOP, the Associated Press reported.

"I don't know whether President Obama is a citizen of the United States or not," Ramsey responded. "I don't know what the whole deal is there."

However, Ramsey added that he doesn't believe citizens are concerned about Obama's citizenship status.

"But I'm going to tell you something," he said. "When you walk out on the street down here, people don't really care about this issue."

True of the unwashed masses, but not true of GOP where a "tipping point" has been reached with only 42% believing Obama is a US citizen.

DNC is trying to prevent independents from reaching this same tipping point by baiting GOP with Alinski-based mockery.

Can you point us all to something that shows where that was required?

Go back to the many, many threads on this subject at the time where this was discussed extensively. Either you're a Johnny-Come-Lately to the matter or have a poor memory.

Anybody can call up a newspaper and get a birth announcement printed. "Born to xxx and yyy a son on xxxxxxxx". Grandma in Hawaii or even mommy in Kenya could have submitted it. If both the announcements give the hospital of birth or the residence address of the parents, it might have some slight credibility.

Two identically worded birth notices in two different papers, where every single other birth certificate was worded and formatted exactly the same as Obama's, is an indication that they come from the same source. Obviously a government agency created them and not private individuals.

Or you're making it up, not uncommon on Birther threads where "I know somebody who knows somebody who read on a website somewhere that some magazine had posted it" constitutes solid evidence.

Scroll up to my reply 49. I included a link to the Indonesian citizenship laws in effect at the time. Please point out the clause there that required Dunham to give up her citizenship in favor of Indonesian citizenship.

Are not the Birthers complaining about restricted access to documents they argue should be available to the public? How is the inability to remove the restrictions an indication of stupidity?

You state Obama was born in Hawaii.

Simple. Produce the long form birth certificate for court examination.

But the claim had been made in reply 2 that others have all they need and are in a position to blackmail Obama. How come they can get the information and the whole flaming Birther community cannot?

Interesting show. Making a good circumstancial case. Asking good questions. MSM won’t touch because of Corporate owners. Congress won’t touch out of fear of Constitutional Crisis.

Nothing new. Main Complaint is why he won’t produce long form certificate and why he won’t open college records. Also why he pays millions for lawyers instead of 25 for copy of long form BC. But it was on a local Washington DC station. All good questions.

Please check the Nationality Act of 1952 (repealed 1986)that is what governs Barack Hussein Obama’s birth.

“Well, people didn’t care about the issue of McCain’s natural born citizen status either, and yet 100 Senators, all on their own, without walking out on the street, including the illegal One himself, addressed the facts of his birth with a Senate resolution. I guess then that that SR511 makes all those Senators “birthers” — “partial birthers”, that is. “

No, that makes them afterbirth....

Since I haven't seen any information about what either notice says, I wouldn't know and won't speculate. Why would a government agency post birth announcements in two different papers?? Usual government practice is to have ONE "paper of record" in which legal notices are published.

It's not the government so much as the papers themselves. Papers announce births, deaths, marriages, and the like as a public service to their readers. They get the information from the government agency responsible for recording those occurances. The local weekly where I live still does - births, marriages, and divorces. Death obituaries are fed by funeral parlors - it's a big source of revenue for them and the papers.

Why? He’s already President.

Basically, what the birthers are asking is for Obama to turn over his documents to some kind of tribunal and then force them to decide if he is eligible or not.

That’s not really how the legal system works.

I just said that the law was intended to cover foreigners not American born folks like Obama’s mother. I suppose if we enforced every technicality in the laws on the books, just about all of us would be in jail wouldn’t we? Would you really want to live in such a society?
