Palin spokesman on Limbaugh’s “retard” joke: “Crude and demeaning”

I asked Palin spokesperson Meghan Stapleton for comment on Rush’s rant, and she emailed me this:

“Governor Palin believes crude and demeaning name calling at the expense of others is disrespectful.”

It hardly has the passion of her response to Rahm, and there’s no call for him to step down. But given Rush’s stature among conservatives, it’s pretty interesting that she went this far, denouncing his on-air rant as “crude and demeaning name-calling.”

His “on-air rant” was just an extended goof at Emanuel’s expense for describing lefty activists as “retarded,” but having chosen to pick this fight, I guess Sarahcuda can’t make exceptions for humor. This is the second prominent conservative her team has had to chastise in two days: An advisor to Rick Perry, whom she’s supporting, was upbraided in similar terms yesterday for using the word “retarded” on a conference call (it’s now become a minor issue in the Texas Republican primary).

Too many on this board don’t get what’s so offensive about the word. As the mother of a 16 year old with Down Syndrome, I don’t take offense to the word being used, however, I do take offense when it’s used in such a derogatory manner. It’s extremely disappointing to see so many on this board who don’t get what’s so offensive about the way Rahm used the word. He used it to insult and demean.

My son being mentally retarded should not make him a second class citizen, but it’s the way some people obviously look at those who are mentally retarded.

Her original comment was directed at Rahm's pejorative. Limbaugh didn't use any pejoratives. I'm still calling the class enemy "Leftwingtards".

My Sister In Laws Brother had a loss of Oxygen at birth due to the Umbilical Cord cutting off his air supply.

He has the Mental Acuity of a eight year old and some difficulty with reasoning and walking. That being said, he is great to be around and he makes you appreciate the little things in life. His eyes light up over things that most of us take for granted.

If A. was all that was asked and B. was all that was sent, there is nothing to indicate in B. that Palin was referring to Rush as being crude but, in fact, was agreeing with Rush in what he was saying about Rahm.

Mrs. Palin couldn't handle the pressure of announcing her daughters pregnancy (without running into hiding for weeks after her great Convention, that is no pressure as compared to what is handled daily by POTUS/CinC). Mrs. Palin had her as$ handed to her by a dimwit in Couric and then ditto that with C. Gibson. She than couldn't handle the pressures (or perhaps it was the lack of MSM attention should wouldn't be getting) by continuing to do her job as Governor of AK.

Mrs. Palin is someone obsessed with....Mrs. Palin. Much like McCain in a lot of ways (only with somewhat better politics) but they are the last type people / personalities we should want as POTUS / CinC.
