CHICAGO — Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says he expects Scott Lee Cohen ultimately will have to step down as the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor over charges that he once abused his girlfriend.

Quinn called Thursday for Cohen to answer all questions about his 2005 arrest for domestic battery. But Quinn says he thinks Cohen will end up dropping out of the race.

Seems to me that lots of the ammo our side gets to use against the Dems comes from their Primary challengers. Love it!

Scott Lee Cohen will need to step aside from the Democrat Lt. Governor nomination.

Otherwise, don’t be surprised if Cohen has an “accident” in the next few weeks.

The Rahm Emmanual- David Axlerod Chicago way.

Thanks - I was hearing this on WLS as breaking news but couldn’t find anything on their website. Looks like the Sun Times is the go-to place.

Almost makes you feel sorry for Pat Quinn...almost.

Too bad this didn’t stay private until a week before the November election. Oh well, I’m sure there is another winner waiting in the wings.

Whom did you predict would win the democrat lt. gov. primary? I thought that State Sen. Terry Link would win. He’s been a legislator for 13 years, and he’s the chairman of the Lake Co. Democrtic Party.

Quinn is about the only candidate during the primaries that didn’t promise to eliminate the LtGov position. He owes his current position to the LtGov-ship.

So, he looks at his running mate and thinks...YIKES!

*** so if this guy does drop out do the dems have another primary or something or what? ***

No, wouldn't be another primary. The heads of the IL RAT party would select a new candidate. The IL GOP had to do this in 2004 when Jack Ryan dropped out.

*** also who the heck is the R running against Quinn? ***

As of now Bill Brady won the IL GOP primary for Gov. He's an IL State Rep and a conservative from Bloomington, IL. He beat IL State Sen. Kirk Dillard, RINO and IL GOP insider, by 406 votes. A recount is coming.

*** i am watching this and the Senate race there since it would be a sweet victory to see Dems get crushed in Obama’s home state ***

Well, it wouldn't be so 'sweet'.

The GOP candidate is Mark Kirk, a US Rep, 10th Dist. He's an über RiNO(1) with a Lifetime ACU rating of: 55.69. In 2007 his rating was a .... (sit down) .. 40! and in 2008 it was ... (still sitting?) .... a 48! The only good thing him winning would do is add one 'R' to the senate for the purpose of Committee and Senate control.

The chances of Mark Kirk winning are pretty good. Kirk is 'democrat enough' to get some dem voters, and the backing of fellow RINO IL GOP bigshots. The dem candidate is Alexi Giannoulias and he has some financial scandal issues relating to his families Bank. Plus the RATS in IL are still hurting from the Blago corruption scandal(s).

Mark Kirk is PRO abortion, PRO Gay Rights, PRO GUN CONTROL and basically -- PRO OBAMA.

btw, Obama's 'Home State' is Hawaii, not IL. ;-)
