POMONA - Republican Carly Fiorina said she is running for the U.S. Senate to bring common sense and real-world experience to Washington, D.C.
In a speech on Wednesday to members of the California Federation of Republican Women Southern Division, Fiorina shared anecdotes from her life and work experience that she believes make her qualified to defeat Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in November.
"I am a conservative because I know based on years of experience in the real world that people make better choices for themselves and their families than somebody else can make for them," Fiorina said.
"And that people will spend or invest their money more wisely than someone else will spend or invest for them."
...
Fiorina said she is focused on creating jobs in the state as well as cutting the amount of spending by the federal government.
...
Growing the economy and cutting spending are the only two ways to control the trillion-dollar deficit the federal government has accumulated, she said.
"How do you grow the economy?" Fiorina said. "You grow it by making it as easy as possible for innovators, entrepreneurs and small-business owners to form, to hire, to grow. We have to fight for every job in this state, in this nation, and right now we are working as hard as we can to drive jobs away."
Fiorina attributes people who have been successful in business to the ability they have to live the American dream.
Fiorina, who started off as a secretary and became the CEO of a Fortune 20 company, said she has been able to live that dream.
...
Before being able to take on Boxer, Fiorina will have to win a Republican primary that includes former Silicon Valley congressman Tom Campbell and Assemblyman Chuck DeVore of Irvine.

Carly as Senator
Why am I having a Lucy and Ethel work the chocolate factory packing line flashback?
LOL...like she did at HP??? I think her days as a CEO reveal much about what sort of a senator she’d be. The word ‘fail’ comes to mind....
“Republican Carly Fiorina said she is running for the U.S. Senate to bring common sense and real-world experience to Washington, D.C”
She wrecked every company with which she was associated while being a diva CEO. Your guess is good as mine as how she went from being a teacher to the CEO of Lucent.
Performing the horizontal mambo no doubt.
Funny, when she was in charge of Hewlett-Packard she cut 20,000+ jobs and bought 9 Lear jets for her corporate staff, complete with stewardess's to get the executives their lunch, drinks and cigars. The money she saved by firing tens of thousands of loyal employees, was spent buying status symbols for her executive staff. The fact that she mis-managed HP and lost marketshare not withstanding.
Then again, by virtue of the RINOs California has, and the Liberals they have given us all - perhaps they deserve Carly.
Agreed. But at this point I would love to see Boxer given the ear boxing of her life, then we can get rid of the destroyer of HP.
Is she a recent cancer survivor? She looks very guant.
She screwed up HP, but I give her credit for this piece of uncommon sense.
Yes, she really should have sat this out, got completely recuperated and then run for DiChiFi’s seat instead.
The HuffPo has Carly’s ad it is so creepy I only watched and half way through.
The slam on Campbell is just strange, I mean I don’t like him but I wont go so far as to imply demonic

Sounds like I should up my investments in disaster preparation supply companies.
As far left as babs is, ANYTHING would be an improvement
Yes, she just got over breast cancer treatment.
She has always looked like that.
The only other viable candidate at this moment is Tom Campbell. Is he any better?
Mebbe she will outsource Congress to India too..............
Come to think of it, that might be an improvement, at least they would pick up the phone, even if you could not understand them.........
I thought so, I just didnt know.
