Disappointed With Sarah, Again
Vanity | 2/4/09

Posted on 02/04/2010 9:35:43 AM PST by dangus

Sarah endorses INCREASING immigration with Glenn Beck:

PALIN: Let me address legal immigration and we need to continue to be so welcoming and inviting of those who are represented there by our Statue of Liberty. The immigrants, of course, built this country. And I think republicans, conservatives are at fault when we allow the other side to capture this immigration issue and try to turn this issue into something negative for republicans. I think we need to recognize that again, immigrants built this great country. There are rules to follow if you want to be a part of this great country. Let's make sure people are following the rules. But let's welcome this.

BECK: Do you agree with me make the door wider and make it easier to bring people in, you know, Bill Gates said, I have a hard time keeping people here because it's so complex. Make, just streamline it and make it easier for people to come in the right way.

PALIN: Every part of bureaucracy needs to be streamlined, absolutely. And people do need to come in the right way. They cannot take advantage of what this country has to offer. The opportunities, the help that is here, they need to do this legally

When Gov. Palin endorsed Sen. John McCain, I was forgiving, because they had been part of a team. But Palin has also endorsed Sen. Lindsey Graham, the man whose hatred for conservatives and grassroots is exceeded in the Republican Party only by Sen. Arlen Specter. Oh, wait...

I'm not saying Gov. Palin is evil, liberal, or statist. But I've been pleading with people to find out what she actually stands for before they stampede to someone based on their personality and/or presence. Maybe she can still be reached, but I'm developing severe concerns we may be on the threshold of lunging headlong to yet another candidate who doesn't represent the conservative viewpoint.

Again, I emphasize she's not necessarily bad, but we should find out exactly how she stands on:

She opposes an amnesty. Just like Bush, McCain, Kennedy, Pelosi and Reid. The question is (AND THIS IS A QUESTION) whether she regards a “clear pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens” to be an amnesty when she says she opposes amnesty. I don’t think she’s been very clear at all on that point, and if you have a quote you’d like to show me, I would actually be very happy, even relieved, to be informed.

The us-vs.-them, if-you’re-not-blindly-stampeding-with-us-you’re-the-enemy mentality is what’s getting old.

Agreed. So stop doing it.

Are you ever going to admit that you were wrong about her already endorsing for the 2014 races?

“Are you going to post the news accounts of Palin’s endorsement for the 2014 South Carolina Senatorial race?”

Even you have to see that our disjointed screed barely fits the English language much less the current debate.

Sarah isn't anti-legal immigrant. This is a smart stance.

She firmly believes that illegals need to be dealt with and that a blanket amnesty is not the way to do it. She tried to create a "disincentive" with the whole DMV thing in Alaska, but she has hinted at other things as well. "Back of the line for services", better enforcement of current laws, etc...

Not exactly a "round them all up and shoot them" policy you seem to be angling for, but probably a whole lot more workable.

IMMIGRATION and GUEST WORKER PROGRAM should be treated as two separate issues, and the later not leading to the former. A GUEST WORKER? should be just that, a 'guest worker'. Secure the border and strengthen our immigration laws.

This would split border security and immigration enforcement issues, which is extremely popular with people from both parties, - from a guest worker and citizenship program, which is incredibly controversial with people in both parties.

The GOP should unite behind a simple principle on illegal immigration:

“Secure the border and enforce our laws.”

A politician should be knowlegable and not appear wishy-washy as this is a threat to our national security in more ways than one.

Association, almost never implies complete agreeance on the issues.

It reveals acceptance of an overwhelming majority of the issues. That indicates Palin is not nearly as conservative as she presents.

Shis is wrong on this one, I agree, but there are times when we do support candidates who disagree with us on issues.

You're not considering the degree at which an individual and a candidate disagree on a given issue and the number of issues to which they disagree. Example: A candidate supports abortion while a constituent opposes abortion. The knee jerk reaction is to find a compromise but how do you reach a compromise on the murder of a human being? Moreover how many issues do a politician and a constituent disagree before the latter comes to the conclusion they can no longer support that candidate? Logically Palin must agree with McAmnesty with most issues otherwise she would be violating her own principles. Given these facts I would have to change my views on amnesty for illegals, abortion, the socialist bailouts among others to accept Palin. Both of them are not even close to the Conservative principles necessary to be acceptable. This all assumes Palin will run for office even though she is not yet a candidate.

You're acting like an extremist.

Or you're acting like a moderate who, by moderates past behavior means willing to cede some conservative principles in order to reach out across the aisle to socialists. That line of thinking has proven to be a disaster for the country over the years. It has brought us to the sorry state we currently find ourselves. If insisting we restore the conservative principles espoused by our founding fathers in the Constitution is extremist, then I couldn't agree more with your claim.

Did you support Scott Brown?

Do you consider yourself Pro-Life?

If you did support him, what are you going to do when he comes out and supports some type of National Health-Care plan?

Mitt Romney is his guy.

I wholeheartedly supported Brown, I made many calls on his behalf. I did so because Brown has stated his opposition to the unconstitutional, socialist health care plan currently before Congress. His victory sent a strong message to socialists their philosophy will no longer be accepted. He is one step closer to conservatism. McAmnesty is not a step closer to conservatism when compared to his current opposition.

Brown's position on abortion is far more in line with Conservatism than the person he replaced(Kennedy) and the person he beat(Coakley). He and she was and are wholeheartedly for abortion. Brown is against partial birth abortion and supports parental consent for abortion of underage females. Romney will not fly with conservatives as he didn't in the last Presidential election and Brown will be sent a strong message once the former is rejected that the latter better drop any notion of any type of national health care. Brown should be getting the message now considering what has transpired in Washington D.C. over the past year. If not he to will be voted out of office. I will support a more Conservative candidate over Brown if one should run against him in the future. Doing so will more of a reversal of socialism and take us one step further down the path to conservatism.

And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now, but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.”

Who does she think she’s kidding???? They weren’t following the rules when they came here! “humane” is a TOTAL amnesty RED FLAG!!!! I’m so sick of the ‘word change’ B.S. by these politicians.... She’s no different than Bush or McCain...who also ‘opposed amnesty’. She, like all other PROGRESSIVE RHINO’s, favors a ‘path to citizenship’ form of amnesty for illegal aliens.

Getting through to her koolaid drinkers is like slamming your head against a freeking brick wall.

You have manufactured your own view of what Palin has said on this issue.

I live 20 miles north of the largest and busies port of entry in the world, San Diego - Tijuana, Mexico.
I know first hand what the illegal problem is.

This is one of the reasons I support Sarah Palin.
You believe what the Ron PaulBots and other Palin haters say to convince yourself.

SARAH PALIN: No, I’m not for amnesty. Let’s ratchet this down quite simply to remember what we’re referring to. Illegal aliens are called “illegal” for a reason. We need to secure our borders and I am not for amnesty. And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now, but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.

She has the toughest approach to this issue.

Most of those who think over 10 million million can be located over 50 states and shipped back (would be great if possible) are only using that as an issue to bash good Conservative Republicans.
They know underneath it can’t be done.

Most of these type also support the Ron Paul libertarians
who believe the IslamOfascists are not a threat to America.
Who believe we were attacked because we are occupiers.

The terrorists who flew the plane into the Pentagon lived
6 miles from me here in San Diego. They Did Not enter
here from the southern border but flew here.

Their Imam here in San Diego was Anwar al Awlaki who was b. in the U.S. and received a degree from San Diego St. Univ.
Awlaki is the same person who is now in Yemen and E mailed the Ft. Hood killer several times and the same person who trained the Nigerian who tried to set off a bomb over Detroit 25 Dec.

Living in San Diego with the largest concentration of military and having many relatives in the war, I am more aware of our life and death situation which is an immediate
situation.

I am a big picture person and will support Sarah Palin who not only understands the problems of the border but
also understands the IslamOfascists attacked America and declared war on us and we must win this war.

That isn't true, and common sense would have told you how ridiculous that would be, he is only 14 months into a six year term, the 2010 elections are coming up and then we have the 2012 elections and then the 2014 elections.

Endorsements have not started for 2014 yet, and won't for many years to come.

I am a big picture person “

And the big picture YOU see includes a “path to citizenship” amnesty for the so-called ‘good’ illegal aliens making you an advocate, full of the usual b.s. excuses for the same kind of anti-american amnesty she, Thompson, Bush, McCain and other RHINOs are for. First of all, even the government acknowledges there are more than 10 million of them. But then you contradict yourself....you tell me it is impossible to locate all “10 million” of them, yet propose that Palin is right in getting rid of the ones who won’t follow the rules. How do you propose, since they cannot be found, that we rid the country of the bad ones? For god sakes....THEY ARE ALL CRIMINALS!!!!

I can not stand supporters of amnesty. Usually, when pressed, amnesty supporters will eventually let on that they are either married to, have family who are, have friends who are, or employ....illegal aliens. And I would NEVER consider a supporter of ANY kind of amnesty to be conservative. Anti-illegal immigration/amnesty/border security advocates should NOT have to be having this argument with so-called ‘conservatives’.

If you truly thought she had the toughest approach on this issue, based on your comments, I don’t think you’d be supporting her. And I don’t listen to Ron PaulBots any more than I’d listen to a Sarahbot...I support Duncan Hunter.....The BEST on border enforcement...AND on attrition through enforcement. It CAN be done. It MUST be done....else we lose the WOT in our own backyards! I am NOT willing to settle.

“She doesn’t ever say she wants a path to citizenship for illegals.”

http://www.univision.com/content/content.jhtml?cid=1716304&pagenum=2

Q: “To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?”

PALIN: “I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country. “

Maybe someone ought to tell her that IS amnesty.

Duncan Hunter was one of our 5 congressmen here in San Diego
He is a good guy

I support Sarah Palin who is just as tough and has
the better chance of beating Obama.

The endgame is to beat Obama with the best candidate
not to support a good guy who can’t win.

You didn't read her answer before that one:

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Plus, she's giving those answers as part of the 2008 campaign as the vice presidential candidate.

Every time she's been asked that question since, she's answered it in a tough, no-nonsense way about illegals. They don't belong here.

You keep working on Hunter (who I admire), he'll garner 1% of the vote in the next republican primary, and while you're pissing and moaning about a 2008 misunderstood answer, you'll get real amnesty rammed down your thoat by Obama.

I know, I know.....then you'll reaallly, reaaallly be angry at Sarah Palin, right?
