Use of Twitter, Facebook rising among gang members
AP ^ | Feb. 2, 2010 | THOMAS WATKINS

Posted on 02/04/2010 9:06:27 AM PST by AuntB

When a gang member was released from jail soon after his arrest for selling methamphetamine, friends and associates assumed he had cut a deal with authorities and become a police informant.

They sent a warning on Twitter that went like this: We have a snitch in our midst.

Law enforcement officials say gangs are making greater use of Twitter and Facebook, where they sometimes post information that helps agents identify gang associates and learn more about their organizations.

And gang members sometimes turn the tables, asking contacts across their extended networks for help identifying undercover police officers.

Gang use of Twitter and Facebook still lags behind use of the much-older MySpace, which remains gang members' online venue of choice.

The Crips, Bloods, Florencia 13, MS-13 and other gangs have long used MySpace to display potentially incriminating photos and videos of people holding guns and making hand gestures. They also post messages about rivals.

Last week, officials in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles, announced the arrest of 50 people in a crackdown of a Latino gang they say was engaged in drug sales and hate crimes against black residents. Prosecutors say some of the evidence was pulled from MySpace and YouTube, including rap videos taunting police with violent messages.

Dozens of Facebook accounts are dedicated to the deadly MS-13 gang, with followers from around the globe. At one site, a video displays pictures of dead members of the rival 18th Street gang, and some users have left disrespectful comments.

"They talk about it too much," Anguiano said. "You want the fame so you've got to go out there and talk about it. That's when your mouth gets you in trouble."

These gang thugs are destroying our cities.

Another related incident (see video):

Vallejo city worker brutally attacked by mob http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/north_bay&id=7254211

VALLEJO, CA (KGO) -- Dozens of teenagers saw it happen in broad daylight, but no one has come forward to identify the mob of young people who beat up a Vallejo city worker. Police have released surveillance video to generate tips.

The attack happened in front of two cameras on Feb. 1 at approximately 3:19 p.m.

Surveillance video from Britton's Mini Mart near Vallejo High School shows the 46-year-old city of Vallejo worker in a back hoe being hit with rocks by some kids. He then drives back to the location at Nebraska and Broadway streets to confront the kids who begin attacking the man. The city worker gets knocked down and eventually a crowd of up to 40 people begin beating the man while he is on the ground.

The victim, a 20-year city employee, was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Vallejo where he is being treated for his injuries. Police say the mob fractured his skull, broke his jaw and collarbone, and knocked several teeth out of his mouth.

On top of it all, they went through his pockets and stole his wallet, all while people cheered in front of another camera from a bystander who shot video. Police have already identified several suspects in the video, but they are also offering $1,000 for the arrest and conviction of any other suspects who took part in this mob beating.

'I saw some punches thrown, but that's about it," said a witness who believes there were close to 40 people in the area.

"That's the way it is out here every morning," Vallejo resident Leonardo Morazan said. "I even went and talked to the principals before last year. About a year or two years ago they jumped my son. They stole everything from him. I had to go inside and say, 'You know, this needs to stop."

A fellow city worker is one of many asking questions. He did not want his identity shown for fear of retribution.

"Where is the mayor of Vallejo? Where is his statement, or anybody in the community? There's no outrage. They act like this is an everyday occurrence, that this is OK to happen," he said.

The outrage is provoked by the video shot at Britton's Mini Mart where the incident happened. Owner Kamal Sandhu says crimes like this are a common occurrence.

"There's always something or the other. They're smoking, or they're smoking marijuana all the time... even drinking. I've seen kids drinking E&J after school," Sandhu said. "[Police] can't do anything. There's so many of them."

They hear countless rappers brag about crimes they never committed so now these clowns are tweeting about crimes they have actually done. And it's gonna bite them.

As we say in policing, 'thank God criminals are stupid.'

Haha. That’s kinda fruity for gang members. Nothing says I’m a badass like a clever status-update. Wonder if any of them posted their bra color during the “Facebook bra color posting fiasco of 2009”.

“And, do me a favor: Don’t text me. Its gay.”

(an outgoing answering-machine message from “The Hangover”, for those who haven’t seen it).

Yes, most are stupid. But the ones we don’t catch are smart.

Interesting.

Most of these knuckle dragging thuglings are incapable of speaking coherent English, who would have believed they had the mental capacity to type or text?

Maybe they are getting their 10 year old sisters to do the heavy #twitter work for them?

“Most of these knuckle dragging thuglings are incapable of speaking coherent English, who would have believed they had the mental capacity to type or text?”

And it’s not just the places in So. Cal that you’d expect this gangland expansion. I was reading this morning about my old home town of Medford, Oregon. A Christian group has set up a ‘home’ where students near the high school can find sanctuary on their way to an from school from the gangs. The place is covered with Latino grafiti and the town is a sanctuary city with stabbings, drive by shootings, rapes, you name it, every day. The same town where my granddaughters have to go through this mess every day. And yes, it worries me.

...I hope you’re right...but I can tell you that in some urban areas(like Baltimore)black Democrats have governed for a couple of generations now....the crimnal justice system there is so riddled with EOC incompetance that the public defender’s office feasts on blunders of the system....and dangerous people get let go to committ further outrages...especially if they have a jury of their ‘peers’

“Last week, officials in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles, announced the arrest of 50 people in a crackdown of a Latino gang they say was engaged in drug sales and hate crimes against black residents.”

Terry Anderson has mentioned many times the assault by these Latino gangs against black Americans. They are one of the most racist cultures known. You’d think Obama might notice that before extending another amnesty.

Here’s just one:

Latino Gang Suspected in California Hate Crime

A family in Pasadena, California thought they were moving into the home of their dreams. African-Americans who had no qualms about moving into an all-Latino neighborhood called Duarte, the Davy family they thought both the home and the area had everything they were looking for. That is, until their house was destroyed from top to bottom in an allegedly racially-motivated attack

On May 8, Davy opened the door to her home and was greeted by a barrage of spray-painted racial epithets. The hardwood floors, the mirrors, the televisions, the dressers — the vandals had turned the entire place into a canvas for that six-letter word used for decades to scare and scar African Americans.

Shaken, she immediately left and called police. And aside from one trip back to pick up some clothes, Davy has refused to return to a scene authorities believe was created by members of a local Latino gang.

“As far as hate crimes go, it’s probably one of the worst ones I’ve seen in my career,” said Sgt. Tony Haynes of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Duarte station. “They trashed the furniture and tossed drawers — there was pretty much no room left untouched.”

Chanisse discovered this terrifying scene upon coming home from picking up her daughter from day care. Since then, the Davys have been living in a hotel and are afraid to return to their home.

Feds: Latino gang targeted blacks

[snips]HAWAIIAN GARDENS, Calif. - A Latino street gang waged a racist campaign to eliminate the city’s black residents through attempted murders and other crimes, according to federal racketeering indictments unsealed Thursday.

“(Varrio Hawaiian Gardens) gang members take pride in their racism and often refer to the VHG Gang as the `Hate Gang,’” the main indictment said. “VHG gang members have expressed a desire to rid the city of Hawaiian Gardens of all African-Americans and have engaged in a systematic effort to achieve that result by perpetrating crimes against African-Americans.”

Shots fired into home
The indictment alleges a string of attacks on black residents, including a shooting into a home with eight people inside. The indictment does not say if anyone was hit.

In another instance, two gang members allegedly chased a black man, yelled a racist epithet at him and then beat him with a garden rake. The same man was later repeatedly stabbed by two gang members, according to the indictment, which charged them with his attempted murder.

According to 2000 census data, the latest available, Hawaiian Gardens was roughly 73 percent Hispanic and 4 percent black.

Hawaiian Gardens Mayor Michael Gomez welcomed the crackdown, saying: “Honest residents should not have to live in fear of lawless thugs who act like it’s high noon at the OK Corral.”

If we are really fighting a war on terrorism, why don’t we take care of these domestic terrorists in our back yard?

Ah, THAT is the real question isn’t it? Obama’s administration won’t even call Islamic jihadists ‘terrorists’. They sure won’t call their Latino voting constituency terrorists.

Local members of Latin King street gang arrested

FEb. 2, 2010

Criminal charges have been filed against a dozen local members of the violent Latin King street gang as part of a multi-agency operation, the FBI said Tuesday.

Law-enforcement officials executed several arrest warrants Tuesday morning throughout Orange, Osceola and Polk counties. Those arrested face charges ranging from murder to conspiracy to commit racketeering.

By Tuesday afternoon, seven Latin King members were arrested, the FBI said: Rene Ramirez, 27, of Orlando; Ricky Montesino, 26, of Orlando; Frederic Salizan, 28, of Orlando; Kevin Sullivan, 29, of Orlando; Derrick Hester, 21, of Davenport; Rafael Rodriguez, 35, of Davenport; Emilio Rosa, 37, of Davenport.

Four others were already in state custody: Jose Santana, 28; Jason Rohena, 22; Jose Garcia, 23; and Vic Melendez, 22.

Authorities are still looking for Luis Gelpi, 20, of Park Manor Drive, Orlando. Gelpi is considered armed and dangerous.

The Latin Kings are one of the largest gangs nationwide, said Orlando police Sgt. Jose Velez. They’re very well organized, and each city or geographic area has a leader who reports to a nationwide leader.

“They are dangerous. They are criminals. They sell drugs. They fight for territories. They threaten people. They shoot people

Worries me too.

There’s not a lot of graffiti or tagging around here, but there is some and where you find gang tags there’s going to be actual gang scum or at least wannabee punks.

Techically savvy, varied intelligence, lacking in any real desire to do anything a “man” would do (work for a living), and lacking common sense(post facts about their crimes). Pretty much describes most of these social misfits.
These are domestic terrorists. They deserve and require nothing more then a few minutes to pray and then a nice bullet behind the ear. Leave the body in the streets as a message. After a few dozen, the rest will get the message. If not.....

Hawaiian Gardens is where the Mexican Mafia originated. One of my coworkers has cousins who live there and he’s never surprised at the crime that comes out of that town.
