There is a lady who is a true Conservative running for Governor of Texas and, in the polls, she is closing in on Ted Kennedy's girlfriend, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Her name is Debra Medina. Check out her website:
http://www.medinafortexas.com/
“I have a REAL problem with her support of Sotomayor”
What you said is not true.
Medina agreed with the vote against Sotomayor; then she pointed out that the Democrats (specifically, George Lopez) were able to characterize a vote against Sotomayer as being racist because of a lack of Republican outreach among Hispanics. (I disagree with her as to a lack of outreach to Hispanics.)
So now that your outrage is actually due to your misunderstanding, are you willing to have a genuine discussion about the Gov candidates?
Pretty arrogant attitude there stat-boy. Medina chastised Hutchinson about not supporting Sotomayor.
As to a genuine discussion, we can have one after the libertarianbots pull off their blinders and put down their pom-poms and address ALL the issues being brought up not just a few with memorized talking points something you are very guilty of btw.
“but they are truly not up to the task of garnering enough votes to win elections”
Very valid concern.
“Rather they/you tend to drink the Libertarian kool-aid and insult/attack anyone that disagrees with them. I try to avoid overt insults or Polemic arguments, and try stick to what I know to be true, but if the shoe fits ... ;)”
I see this happening on both sides of the Republican Party. I honestly try to keep an even keel here at FR, at Party meetings, at conventions, etc. Fair debate is permissible on any point, as far as I am concerned. I do get a little upset at left wing globalists. I also wish the Repub establishment had taken more of a fatherly approach to the (much younger) recent Paulbots. [Great, now you got me saying it.] For example, I have entered my 40s, and in my experience at least 80 percent of those younger than I who showed up at Repub party meetings over the past 2 years has been a Ron Paul supporter. The newly revived Young Republican group (I am too old to be a young republican) is, based on my interaction with the members, almost entirely Ron Paul supporters.
Seriously, I do not have a problem working with someone who I consider mostly conservative. [I consider myself 100 percent conservative, of course! ;evangelical Christian, homeschool, teach the kids to shoot at 4-H, etc.] I have been involved with various Republican groups since the 1980s (since I became an adult), and I know how things work. We debate during the primary, and after that is over, we work for victory in November.
Part of me misses being a Texas Republican during the 1980s. We were more of a tight group back then. Nothing like wearing a Vote Democrat, its easier than getting a job t-shirt around during college.
Finally, if my responses or debates with you, anymouse, or others here at FP are viewed as an insult, please accept my sincere apology because that is not my intent.
“Pretty arrogant attitude there stat-boy.”
Shoot. Sorry. I have a biting, somewhat sarcastic, and at times silly style of humor, which often does not translate well via written word because the tone of my speech is missing. Not my intent, seriously. I remember your name well enough to know you have a thick skin. In person, I make fun of myself at least as much as I do the world around me.
“Medina chastised Hutchinson about not supporting Sotomayor.”
Again, not true. The original source for that misunderstanding is the following piece my Medina:

No problem. It is easy to sink into heated “debates” online, as most times you never meet the people that you are arguing with and really only have what they have been able to articulate in a few brief sentences or paragraphs written in haste to judge their position on. It takes purposeful restraint and self-discipline to avoid falling into that mode. It happens.
Regarding how the RPT handled the Ron Paul supporters at the convention, it was the RP folks who did the sneak attack on the county SD caucuses attempting to eventually disrupt the state convention(s). The RPT probably did over-react, coming down hard on them, but given they only had spotty info. on what was coming and the RP had filed the legal claim at the 11th hour, they really had no choice but to assume the worst and fight back hard.
The U.S. kind of did that in response to the 9/11/01 attack too. Another issue that some RP people disagree with us on. But when you pull the tiger’s tail, you better expect to get his teeth.
All that aside, I think Medina is adding a positive element to the gov. race by bringing up valid Constitutional issues. Just wish Perry and Hutchinson would follow suit and not embarrass themselves by going down in the mud with each other. They are writing Bill White’s campaign ads against the GOP nominee for him.
Bill White is an extremely smart, polished, slick, former top in the US Susman attorney, top of whatever school he ever went to, articulate, successful as a plaintiffs attorney and as a cut-throat business leader, very wealthy, weasel of a politician. He is going to crush Perry in the debates with his slick talk, and his campaign will be near perfect. We have not run up against a Democrat like him in Texas for a long time (probably since Bentsen). I hope that the Party is not taking the race for granted, I am not, and we are going to have to fight for every vote in order to win.
When I want the truth about Obama I check his website too.
Rolling eyes ..............
Modified the talking points now that it is understood that she was dead wrong and uninformed when she said she was going to end gun registration in Texas?
Is she still "wishing" she could carry a gun into the grocery store like Rick Perry, my wife and I do?
Maybe in the future when her website is modified to correct errors the changes can be highlighted in bright yellow so we can more easily find the revisions.
“Im voting for her in the primary.”
I’ll be watching the polls and as soon as she gets ahead of Kay baby I’ll vote for Medina.
Since when do y’all go shopping with Perry?
Has she really recanted her registration remark?
I have no interest in going to her site to dig around
for it.
It was interesting to see all the Medina-bots claiming
that we really DO have gun registration, grasping at
straws.
Here’s a test for ‘em:
HG: Hey Eaker, you remember that Nagant I bought a few years ago?
Eaker: Yeah, what about it?
HG: I’m tired of it eating up space in the gun cabinet. You want it?
Eaker: Sure, it’s a nice piece.
HG: Give me eighty bucks for it.
Eaker: OK, here you go.
HG: It’s all yours.
(Eaker packs up the gun and leaves)
No paperwork changed hands, no agency was informed.
Exercise for the class:
WAS THIS LEGAL IN TEXAS?
“If you believe you can remove property taxes without one of the two solutions above, then I have some ocean front property in Dumas, Texas that I want to sale you!
But is it really possible to completely replace property taxes in Texas by expanding the sales tax base?
Yes. The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) released a study in April, 2009 showing that simply expanding the sales tax base to include categories of goods and services that are not currently taxed in Texas, but that are taxed in other states, would replace almost all the revenues currently collected by the property tax. Examples of some services that we currently do not tax include mining services, drilling services, legal services, limousine services and others. By also adding in a one-time sales tax on the saleof property (as opposed to an annual tax on property ownership), the TPPF study showed that we could replace the entire property tax revenues with a modest increase in the sales tax rate to 8.8 percent.
“The same was said about the Kenyan Klown. “
That’s what you get for watching the State run media.
Great come back!
You going to be in town all week? How's the veal?
You left off the single biggest item that will have the greatest effect on the most people.
Food.
Why am I not surprised.
Is there a single honest bone in just one Medinabot?
Be ready to be ignored as Medinabots will only address issues that they have pre-printed talking points (typically lies) already in hand.
Thinking on one’s feet is not a strong trait in Medina supporters.
When I am afraid to debate the truth of a statment I make I resort to attacks without offering evidence of my statement.
Got links?
The Governor threads are littered with pro-Medina false statements that have been thoroughly refuted and questions asked of Medina supporters that are never addressed.
I'll be damned if I'll recap everything posted the past few weeks for it just to be ignored again.
One good example is the Medina pledge to end gun registration in Texas. Is she still backing this false promise even though everyone knows there is no registration or is it just going to be ignored? What would go a long way to her gaining some support would be for her to just admit she was wrong.
For her and her supporters to continue to ignore this elephant in the room each time it is brought up is just another lie by omission in each instance. Lies, even the same ones repeated tend to add up and sour people's opinion of the liar.
Ignoring that she is a Ron Paul supporter isn't helping her either as each time it is ignored the bigger of a negative it becomes.
Maybe Medina will get a joint endorsement from Ron Paul and Mitt Romney so we can forget about her all together and get on to the business of beating the democrats.
