There is a lady who is a true Conservative running for Governor of Texas and, in the polls, she is closing in on Ted Kennedy's girlfriend, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Her name is Debra Medina. Check out her website:
http://www.medinafortexas.com/
Medina is a Ron Paul clone.
Nothing more and nothing less.
One of her big talking points was that she is going to end gun registration in Texas. Her little Bots here on FR were talking this up big time this past weekend. As usual they were wrong on the most simple issues.
“Protecting freedom requires that the people be well armed. Government cannot protect us from violence, we must defend ourselves. Texans must not compromise and must not surrender their rights to keep and bear arms. We must not only nullify federal laws that threaten that right but encourage citizens to be, as Madison encouraged, “trained to arms, as that is the best and most natural defense of a free country.”
Debra Medina
Will words like won’t come out of the mouth of Perry or KBH.
I was unaware that we had gun registration in Texas.
[...SHE IS FOR ELIMIINATION OF PROPERTY TAX]
This is as stupid as the Democrats “utopian” government. Tell me again WHERE are we going to get our tax dollars to run this great state? If we eliminate property taxes, then sales taxes will go up, or a state income tax would have to replace the lost income.
If you believe you can remove property taxes without one of the two solutions above, then I have some ocean front property in Dumas, Texas that I want to sale you!
She's a nurse.
Empties bedpans.
She has experience emptying bedpans.
2} She is a leader
She is a nurse.
3) She is not a loose cannon
She is clueless about the most basic issues.
4) She works well with others
Like Ron Paul.
Me too.
Hey, dubya I think a Medina supporter better handle this one.
Thank God for Presidential term limits and we were able to replace that damn Bush with Obama.
I agree 100% with your points.
However, the state of Texas does need a revenue stream to exist.
What is Medina offering as a replacement? Without addressing this issue, she is just blowing smoke. IMHO
Can she accomplish anything you ask? I’d say she has already accomplished A LOT.
She has come out of nowhere without money while being totally ignored by all media. She just won both debates and a poll a few days ago that had her winning more votes for Governor than Perry and Hutchinson combined.
We’ll see how far she goes after the runoff SHE has forced.
Some people never learn. Medina would be about as bad as Obama.
I just posted this link on another thread but it seems this thread is badly in need of some information on Medina’s plans to replace property tax and assure no gun registration comes to Texas.
I found this video of Debra Medina, challenger for Governor in the upcoming primary, in which she is very forthcoming with her plans and ideas to go another direction.
This is part 4, http://www.youtube.com/watchv=nRq1Wz87MFg&feature=related
and the next one, part 5 is even better as she explains with clarity and detail how eliminating property tax will explode the Texas economy. Part 3 is the beginning of her speaking to a group in East Texas and in it she explains how and why she decided to run for Gov in 2008 before the Tea Party, etc. movements.
Enjoy and please pass along to others seeking information.
I was there, so were several thousand other Texas Republican delegates (the same people she will need their votes, $$s and volunteer effort to get elected.) You can drink the Libertarian cool-aid all day long, but it won’t change the fact that Medina has no chance.
Thanks for the info
I wouldn't go that far. Medina might be naive, but I think she is sincere in wanting to follow the Constitution. That alone makes her infinitely better than Zero.
Thanks for the ping!
What was her position on e-verify AND 287-g?????
What choice do we have?
Medina ad:
Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family? (Medinas cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)
She told a colleague last month in an e-mail. Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture. But before she explained that, she told my colleage, who had asked her whether she considers herself Latina: Id not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when its immaterial.
No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.
She is also running Spanish ads. Hello Mrs.Medina! If they cannot speak English then they have no business voting IMO. When they learn English then let them vote. Assimilate. Learn English. Appreciate all America gives you.
So Im sure she is blowing a lot of hot air just like Obama did just to get elected. Running those ads and saying what she has, tells me the border issue is just a try to get votes for herself.
No, thanks, Ill stick with ol RINO Perry. Texas has remained in better shape than almost any if not all of the states in the union under Perry's watch. As someone said, 'he's the devil we know'.
The motly crew running for governor is laughable; a MUSLIM, a trecherous RINO woman* (Hutchison) and a woman with questionable loyalties
*Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchisons amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.

Is she going to cry when you she loses, just like she did on stage at the RPT State Convention when she was booed as her Paulbot floor motions were voted down soundly by the delegates on the floor?
I very much enjoy your contributions to FR; however, over and over again you use personal insults instead of reasoning when discussing the effect of the Ron Paul revolution on the Republican party. I think you are very wrong, and despite the 15 percent of RPs views that I completely disagree with, I think the other 85 percent of his platform is necessary for our country to survive.
As Ronnie put it in 1975: Id like to see the Libertarian PartyI dont say they should quit being a partyId like to see them, Id like to see the conservatives, Id like to see some of these other parties maybe come to this remnant of the Republican Party which is basically conservative in its thinking and, I think, akin to the philosophy Im talkingId like to see them all come in (and this would include a large segment of the Democratic Party in this country, that certainly proved in 1972 that they do not follow the leadership of the Democratic Party any longer) and be able to say to them, OK were not saying to you give up what youre doing, but, cant we find a common meeting ground in order at least to defeat first of all those who are doing what theyre doing to us (and this present Congress is an example)?
In addition, I rather enjoyed Medina at the state convention, and I also enjoyed the enthusiasm and the yearning for liberty of the younger Ron Paul supporters. It certainly added excitement to the event, and I find them much more palatable the power-brokering Republican Pharisee-like establishment with their lips firmly planted on Tina Benkisers derriere.
Gov. Perry and Sen. Hutchinson are no prizes agreed
but Medina is not ready for prime time - maybe, maybe not. I think she’s worth a shot. At least she speaks of liberty, freedom, the Constitution, the vision of our founding fathers, individual control over our schooling, health care, business decisions, contracts, security, and so on.
Again, Ronnie in 1975: If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberalsif we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.
The only way she can accomplish anything is by working with the legislature, and we don’t even know WHO that will be until November. If the Democrats managed to get a majority in the House, there will be a new Speaker, and he will could be a liberal. As to the radical notion of doing away with the property tax, well, I do feel that I am paying rent to the government to live in my own house. Are there enough people who feel the same way? I doubt it.
