My past away kitties will greet you with love on the Rainbow Bridge, Sweetie. (sniff)

I’m getting to the hardnosed point in my life where I hate humans!

I’d rather hang out with my loving animals.

I had to trap a stray kitten for its own protection (one of my other cats was harassing it) a couple of years ago, and took it in as a pet. It weighs over 20 lbs now, I think it is a Maine Coon. BTW, the cat doing the harassing is now best buds with him.

The person who abused the kitten is very sick and thrives on the pain of others. It must be one hellish existence.

To Gary Bassett, Mercy's owner, abusing a cat is invigorating for him. The sadistic thrill is his bill.

Every day I continue to lose faith in humanity.

Don't.

Every day ordinary people commit acts of great courage and kindness, or of some courage and kindness, or of just simple courage and kindness. But these are rarely newsworthy.

We have among us saints (not always recognized), and we have among us sinners (a lot, and sometimes well-intentioned failures), and we have among us the occasional rare beast.

But we are not all beasts, nor should any of us be characterized by our worst. (Hitler was a vegetarian...)

I’m not a fan of the feline, but this is just plain disgusting. No mercy for the SOB who did this.

>>A 25 YO kitty? You did an amazing job taking care of that baby and my heart feels your loss. It takes a long time to just remember the good things and get over the grief...a really long time.<<

Thank you, you are very kind. I guess grief is the tails side of love. If we didn’t love, we wouldn’t grieve.

See #27. May depend upon your definition of “faith,” but remember: Saul became Paul. We have a written prayer that God “desireth not the death of a sinner, but rather that he should turn from his wickedness and live.”

Excellent advice.

Some humanity:

God did a pretty good job of constructing us humans. We have free will and could, theoretically all be like the subhuman in the OP. But more do good and do it willingly and all the time.

I’m crying for this poor little kitten. Poor baby how could a grown person do something so cruel to such a sweet little critter.

Thank you, freedumb2003!

There is a picture I treasure from years ago, from the earthquake in Bam, Iran (wiped out the city) when American troops went to help. The Iranian is giving the American a gift of roses. Most Americans don't understand this but Iranians love roses (I believe they were bred to their many varieties there) -- this is a gift we (Americans) don't tend to understand but my wife, who lived in Iran and speaks Farsi, broke into tears when she saw it. Because she understood.

Where's the subhuman in this photo?

The cat abuser wanted to abuse an animal that easy, so he went for his kitten, Mercy.

I was crushed this past weekend. Saw "The Blind Side" before it went out of the theaters - first opportunity after learning of a similar story in a close circle. A football player named "Gaines Adams" (Clemson? I'm not a big football fan, okay?) was coached through high school English by a woman I knew and respected (in Greenwood SC; she has since passed on), at least in part so that he could continue playing but more than that I'm sure...

Under the circumstances, it wasn't easy keeping a dry eye through that movie...

Same here. My 15-year-old cat Homes had to be euthanized Friday. You can really get attached to a critter after such a long time.

I went to the shelter this week and adopted Bud, a big-azz 9-year-old Tabby. He’s bigger than a lot of dogs I’ve seen, but he’s just a big ol’ good-natured critter.

The staff at the shelter said that it’s really easy for them to adopt out kittens and younger adult cats, but most people aren’t interested in taking home the older cats they have. Bud is one of the lucky ones.

Though I don’t believe that animals have immortal souls, I do believe that God expects us to be good stewards of the animals that come into our care. We are judged, at least in part, on how we care for them.

>>Though I don’t believe that animals have immortal souls, I do believe that God expects us to be good stewards of the animals that come into our care. We are judged, at least in part, on how we care for them.<<

That is a very dicey question/issue. God gave our critters a certain amount of intelligence and certainly the ability to love. But we have to remember that God is the Creator of the Universe. Recreating our beloved pets — down to the last atom and memory — in the Bye and Bye to be with us is no big deal for Him.

God’s relationship with us is certainly complex (for us). We exist as souls inhabiting bodies. Jesus died for us, God’s children, because it had to be so. We can dimly see His Plan, and we accept His revelations to us of the parts of the Plan we can see.

So, I put my trust in God, that the Rainbow Bridge exists, that Musica awaits, but she does so not so much as a soul, but as a corporeal reality held in God’s infinite hand.

Because if I go upwards and she isn’t there (with her sister Neysa), then I ain’t going!

I hear you. It will be a year on 8 May that my Taco went to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 20years one week. I got him as a tiny kitten that had no mama..Hand raised him and he was a beautiful long hair red kitty. We miss him greatly.
He was a talker and a real pal.And loved to have his pictures taken..would pose!
