According to published reports, Dr. Fukino has admitted that her July 27th statement received the verbal approval of the HI Attorney General, who “o.k.’d it.”
In an attempt to corroborate the contents of Dr. Fukino’s statement and understand better the value of that testimony, I put the following two questions to Nagamine, as a member of the press.
I am seeking some information in response to 2 questions I have. Please understand that your response(s) or non-response will be quoted by our paper.
Q. 1: Does the Director of the Hawaii Department of Health have any statutory duty or authority to define the citizenship status of anyone whose vital record(s) are kept by that department?
Q.2: According to the legal references employed by your office, what is the defition of a “natural-born citizen” of the United States of America?
I put my question to the Deputy Attorney General to avoid putting the Attorney General in a situation of a conflict of interest, if he in fact, did, as Dr. Fukino claims, advise her regarding her July statement.
Nagamine, in response, asserted that any answer to such questions given by her office would represent a conflict of interest for her office. And that is an explicit admission that Dr. Fukino had no statutory authority nor duty to make such a statement, and that the Attorney General’s office will not stand behind Fukino’s claim that Obama is a “natural-born American citizen.”
It is such, because if Fukino’s declaration had legal weight of any kind, surely a response to my questions would have corroborated that without such a conflict-of-interest scenario. You only have a conflict if the Fukino claim would not be supported by a Nagamine response

I am very late to the so-called ‘birther’ issue, but like rodguy911, I think Obama might very well be ineligible based on the fact that “both parents” were not US citizens -— his Kenyan born father traveled under a British passport at the time of his birth.

I figured it out. He found a law everyone had forgotten about from July 1961, one renaming the post office in Toad Suck, Arkansas. It stipulated that anyone born in Kenya during the next 100 days whose mother was born in the US would be considered a natural born citizen of the United States.

If he was illegitimate his original birth certificate would have been sealed when Ann and Barack got married and he would have been issued a new one showing he was legitimate. That process is called legitimation.
Also if he was illegitimate they could not have published his name in a newspaper - that is, not if the paper announcements really came from the DOH.
No, there’s something much more significant that he’s hiding. DOH director Fukino’s own statement seems to indicate it was his place of birth that was amended.
Birth announcement or not, the certificate numbers and the alleged filing dates at the DOH do not match up. The DOH received Obama’s certificate (allegedly) 3 days before they received the Nordyke twins’ certificates. The DOH gives the certificate number when they receive the certificate. Obama’s should be a lower number than the Nordykes since his came in 3 days earlier than theirs, but it isn’t.
We know that the Factcheck and Fight the Smears COLB’s are forgeries. If the birth announcements came from the DOH (and that is a definite “if” right now) then why would Obama have to use somebody else’s COLB?
Read the article linked above. Something is DEFINITELY very, very wrong in Hawaii.
Notice, though, that both O’Reilly and Beck rely on the birth announcements now. Wonder why they don’t cite what Obama himself posted - the COLB now known to be a forgery...

If he was adopted by Soetoro, wouldn’t a new birth certificate be issued. I know that in our state that is what is done upon finalization of an adoption.
Does being born in the U.S. make you a “natural born citizen” or does the “natural” part refer to the citizenship of your parents? Hmm?
