66 years old. Former associate of Dan Quayle. One of the first to publicly suggest the Clintonian "wag the dog" strategy of missile strikes intended to distract the public from Lewinski scandals. Shows a certain amount of chutzpah. Don't know why he declined to run for re-election after that. Maybe just healthy disgust.

No, I’ll stick with Hostettler, Coats has little less than 2 weeks to get his signatures in, anyway (I think it’s a desperate move by the establishment, honestly), because all 4 others in the race are solid Conservatives (it’s just that no one thought Bayh was vulnerable untill a couple polls came out recently; after he voted for The President’s budget, Stimulus plan, and Health Care)!!
