Obama Administration Says It Is 'Not Finished With Toyota'

By JOSH MITCHELL And NORIHIKO SHIROUZU

The Obama administration toughened its stance toward Toyota Motor Corp. on Tuesday, saying it is still reviewing possible safety defects in the company's vehicles and weighing other actions.

"We're not finished with Toyota and are continuing to review possible defects and monitor the implementation of the recalls," Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in a statement.

Another DOT official said the agency is considering a civil penalty against the Japanese auto maker.

Mr. LaHood, in his statement, said "while Toyota is taking responsible action now, it unfortunately took an enormous effort to get to this point."

Mr. LaHood said DOT officials flew to Japan in December to remind Toyota executives "about its legal obligations and followed up with a meeting at DOT headquarters in January to insist they address the accelerator pedal issue."

Last week, Mr. LaHood said he had no issues with how Toyota had responded to the sudden-acceleration problems that led to the recall of millions of vehicles.

Well, technically they are never finished with ANY business. They are just stating the obvious.

Frankly, this is starting to remind me of a certain Tom Clancy novel that involved gas tanks I believe.

Nope, one of the advantages of the government owning their own car companies is there is no limit in the damage they can inflict on competitors.

You will buy a government motors suicide clown car or else.

Our town just authorized purchase of police vehicles from the 2010 budget. They are Chrysler products...because of “federal incentives” that made them cheaper to purchase than any other car. By law we are bound to purchase from lowest responsive bidder.

Couple that with this article.

You figure it out.

Goverment Motors Conflict of Interest Anyone?

Toyota should be holding a press conference and letting Government Motors Chairman Barack Obamah have it!

The fools better not muck around with the Japanese. They will take about so much and then they will say piss off and close those plants, and move to Mexico.

They do not play the do it or else game. Bammy can add a few more thousand unemployed auto workers to the unemployment list.

I’m surprised Ford hasn’t been brought up as the next “Emmanuel Goldstein” yet. They didn’t take the bailout, their sales are up, and they are hiring people.

. . and I thought he and Jesse Jackson were not on the best of terms. Or is it that Jesse laid the groundwork for this slimeball. I had a funny feeling this throttle thing was just the start.

I would imagine Toyota would just close the plants and put all of those people out of work than to give in to the union organizing goons. I’m sure that would work out wonderfully for the off-year elections.

If I ran Toyota, I'd close down a plant in a unionized Obama state just to show him. But wait, they already did that, didn't they?

Compare and contrast the responsible attitude of Toyota who DISCOVERED the defect, issued the recall and stopped production worth millions of dollars in order to get the problem solved to your typical Government Motors/UAW lackey who would hide the defect, claim it didn't exist and finally, in true Obama/Barney Frank style, blame somebody else when it blew up in their faces.

Is Toyota unionized?

If not, then that explains this whole story, in a nutshell.

Look for the union label, chances are, it says "made by obama".

Obama et al desperately want to shut down and cripple competition to Government Motors and Auto Union Motors so we’ll be forced to buy their crappy cars.
