Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the nation will deliver a harsh blow to the "global arrogance" on this year's anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
"The Islamic Revolution opened a window to liberty for the human race, which was trapped in the dead ends of materialism," Ahmadinejad said during a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
"If the Islamic Revolution had not occurred, liberalism and Marxism would have crushed all human dignity in their power-seeking and money-grubbing claws. Nothing would have remained of human and spiritual principles," he added.
Ahmadinejad said that in the three decades of its history, the Islamic Revolution had inspired some great developments in the world.
The Iranian president made the remarks as the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution approaches.
Iranians are expected to pour into the streets on February 11 to celebrate the occasion in public rallies across the country, as they have done annually over the past three decades.

It’s important to remember that Iran and Syria are almost the same as one...Israel knows this all to well. This is why there is always so much conflict on Lebannon’s border and the issue of the Golan heights.

There's no accounting for Obama's monumental ineptitude and poor judgment, but (I would think that) the practical necessity of a combined (Israel + U.S.) strike is pretty compelling. Taking the heat for complicity with Israel would be far less damaging than suffering the retaliations (which we would be subject to anyway) from an insufficiently neutralized Iran.
Possibly the U.S. role would not include striking at the nuke sites, but would focus on suppressing Iranian retaliatory capabilities.
If the Israelis are absolutely insistent, it would be insane to let them do it alone. Iran is a huge country, sits right on the Persian gulf, etc. I'm no military or strategic expert, but I just can't imagine that Israel, notwhithstand their impressive capabilities, have anything like the resources to handle both the necessary offensive and defensive/suppressive/preemptive aspects of a mission like this.
Turkey is ready to try again to broker a peace agreement between Israel and Syria if both countries agree to resume the stalled initiative, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Friday.

You can bet there’s alot of backdoor communication going on with former leaders here in our country...hope Cheney’s in on this. Bo jusst cannot manage even an understanding of what these issues are about...but there are those I do trust who are no doubt up to date on this for awhile now.
I seriously doubt it. The mullahs don't want to commit national suicide. Israel has over 200 nuclear weapons. They can be delivered by aircraft or via cruise missiles from submarines.
Iran want's nuclear weapons to dominate the region and to prevent US intervention in their internal affairs, i.e., to remove or destablize the current regime. It is an insurance policy.
Only Russia has the clout with Iran to hold them back if they decide to act...
Russia has limited influence. They are builiding the current nuclear reactor. They are also selling arms to Iran, including anti-aircraft missiles. China is negotiating more and more long term oil contracts with Iran and elsewhere to meet their burgeoning energy needs.

Indeed. That might explain the recent visit to the Whitehouse of Bush I.
Of course I have no knowledge why Papa Bush paid a "courtesy visit" to the WH, but I assume he still has contacts with people in the know. I thought it strange making a visit on a cold blustery day when he could have stayed at home by the fire.) He may be old not crazy.
Other than “Press TV” is there any other news outlet carrying this story?
I'll bet he raises the price of oil to Europe who will then take it out on US at the U.N.
Our forces have in place, orders that allow them to defend themselves in just such an event...
We have so many satellites making passes over that dirt its not even funny anymore...
If Iran decides to blink...We’ll know it in time for the commander(s) on the ground to do what they can to defend themselves...
Once that is complete, the next move will be Obama’s...Then we’ll know...
Obama is being forced to act. The Israelis and the Saudis want to stop this drift and non-action. Deadlines come and go.
