I guess somebody got mad. Who’s making these decisions? Surely not Obama. Seriously, I can’t picture him ordering such a thing. I assume he’s letting it drift.

“US airstrike targets Haqqani Network in North Waziristan”
By BILL ROGGIO
January 29, 2010 6:38 PM
SNIPPET: “Unmanned US strike aircraft killed nine Haqqani Network fighters in an attack on a compound in Pakistan’s Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan.
The strike took place in the Datta Khel region in North Waziristan. Al Qaeda’s Shadow Army is based in Datta Khel.
The unmanned aircraft, likely Predators or their more dangerous cousins the Reapers, fired three missiles at a compound run by the Haqqani Network. “Foreign fighters,” a term used to describe Arab al Qaeda members, are also known to use the compound, AFP reported.
At this time, no senior Haqqani Network, al Qaeda, or Taliban commanders have been reported killed. US intelligence officials contacted by The Long War Journal would not comment on the target of the strike.
Today’s strike is the first in 10 days and breaks a lull in US attacks after a flurry from Dec. 31, 2009, to Jan. 19. There were 11 airstrikes in that timeframe, and all of them took place in North Waziristan.”
Maybe...maybe not.

We seem to have a pretty good amount of drone kills, if it works then we should improve on it. Why spend billions on a few aircraft when for a fraction of the amount we can have warfare assets that “do the job” in large quatities.
I see nothing wrong with having F22 or F35 fleets, but I fail to see future wars needing them. To me its like sending a new Hummer or Corvette into a State Fair Destruction Derby. It looks nice and and bold and macho and all but its up against a whole diverse field of rolling crap and eventually it will succumb.
They should install a speaker in the nose of the these missiles so the Miranda warnings can be auto-broadcast when the range closes in on 100 feet.

Outstanding!
What, no Miranda?
