In Charleston, McGinn said he is not promoting any one political party or person, but he lavished praise on U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., the only Senate Republican who has spoken favorably about a proposed plan to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

"Senator Graham is a leader," said McGinn, who praised Graham for his military background and "good intellect."

fyi

I don’t get the dependence on foreign oil argument for alternative energy. We are going to show our enemies by running on inefficient energy sources? Plus we mostly import oil from countries closer to us, like Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela. At least countries in the Middle East, like Saudi Arabia, are providing acceptable utility with their oil exports... which is more than can be said for alternative energy advocates, like T. Boone Pickens, who are rent seekers that want something for nothing.

If we don’t buy from the Middle East, someone else in the world will, and the effects on aggregate supply and aggregate demand will not be significant. It’s a silly kabuki dance argument which results in an increase in the cost of living for the average American.

McGinn hasn’t defected to the enemy - he’s using judo. He’s quite comfortable dumping global warming. But with it he’s pushing nuclear power as carbon neutral, and without it as clean energy. The Lefties are squirming around him trying not to even report the nuclear option he’s sticking in their faces as an obvious and highly satsifactory solution to their warming/energy crisis crap.

Refine baby refine.

Seems we are still stuck on stupid even after Katrina.

One small but moderately equipped terrorist attack on our Houston refineries will cause a run/panic energy price inflation, that will devastate our economy.

If this Admiral is representative of our military's leadership, we're screwed! His head is so far up PC's butt, he just has his big toe left showing.

He probably believes that Islam is a religion of peace and conservatives are a threat to national security.

We can't drill for oil. We can't built nuclear. We can't built oil refineries. Clinton put Utah coal off limits. This is madness courtesy of the ecotard-progressive politician alliance. Thanx !

There's a South Dakota class battleship, the Massachusetts, moored on permanent display at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. I've visited her several times; she's a wonder of technology and history.

In her engine room they've put up a little table that lists her fuel usage as a function of the speed she's making. It's posted either on, or right next to, the big control panel (well, it's really not that big, because there's not very much room down there) for the engines, which are steam turbines.

If I recall correctly, at top speed she used more than 200,000 gallons of oil per day.

Wrong. McCain supports crap-and-trade, but not Obama's crap-and-trade.

"I am a supporter of a strong cap-and-trade system, but I will not and cannot align myself with a giant government slush fund that will further burden our businesses and consumers," McCain said at a Reform Institute Forum on energy reform.
