President Barack Obama on Friday proposed $33 billion in tax credits to coax small businesses into hiring workers as he underscored his commitment to pushing job creation to the top of his agenda.

Coax??

Somehow that just lacks an air of Presidential directive.

Free market, free people, all awaiting to be "coaxed".

hmmm... $33 billion dollars to boost jobs. hmph.

let’s say they GAVE the money to small business if the business hires someone for $33,000 per year. that would CREATE 1 million jobs

meanwhile, if they did the same thing in order to put all 17m unemployed people to work... it would cost $561 billion.

which would be cheaper than the ‘stimulus’ package by almost a 1/4 trillion dollars

I cannot attest to authenticity of this e-mail, but it sure gives you food for thought.

Subj: Why pay for the care of the careless?

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!!

His two-paragraph letter to the editor of his newspaper in Jackson , Mississippi accurately puts the blame on a “Culture Crisis” instead of a “Health Care Crisis”. It’s worth a quick read:

Dear Mr. President:
During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.
While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as “Medicaid”! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.
And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman’s health care? I contend that our nation’s “health care crisis” is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a “crisis of culture”, a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one’s self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that “I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me”.
Once you fix this “culture crisis” that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you’ll be amazed at how quickly our nation’s health care difficulties will disappear.
Respectfully,
STARNER JONES, MD

So if we hired a bunch of people for a week each, do we get $5000 each?

President Barack Obama on Friday proposed $33 billion in tax credits to coax small businesses into hiring workers

Uh, bammie, companies hire employees because demand for their product or service warrant it, not because of tax credits.

F'n dork, although you can now say you gave tax breaks and it is the businesses fault that there is still un employment and not yours but we know your game.

$30 billion divided by $5000 per job is 6.6 million jobs.

How does he define "NEW" job. Wanna bet a "NEW JOB" is a union job? I'll put money on it!

How about keep the $33 billion and simply cut the minimum wage for anyone under 18 years old to $5.00 a hour. I know, the horror of that idea!!!

That in it self should create jobs and start pumping money into the economy

I would say to draw the kenyan a picture, but I still don't think he'd get it.

Poking all this "one-time" money at employers expecting it to create lasting jobs is like walking on a treadmill for one day and expecting to lose 50 pounds...it's (here's that word that is the mainstay of all liberal/progressive thinking...) UNSUSTAINABLE.

"U"seems to be a popular letter for liberal/progressives; in addition to all of their policies being "Unsustainable", they are also plauged with "Unintended consequences".

They constantly seek the mythical land of Utopia, coming up with Unfunded mandates to try and achieve it.

When they are in charge, "Unployment" is always "Up", as are taxes.

They love "Unions", live off "Uncle Sam", and most of their women are "Ugly".

To that I say to all liberals everywhere, "Up yours" and "screw U.

How about passing even MORE radical tax reform along the lines of Steve Forbes' flat tax or FairTax and get a stimulus that could run over US$20 TRILLION from repatriated American-owned liquid assets and new foreign investment as we eliminate taxes on bank savings accounts and investments?

Can someone either corroborate or debunk the number I heard for the “Oh-so-Popular” Cash for Clunkers program? I heard that each car sold cost the American Taxpayer $23,000. if true, we should be hammering that fact over and over and over again every time they try to fly this pie-in-the-sky crap in our faces. How much should the taxpayers expect to come up with, say, per $50,000 job? $350,000? This is SUCH total BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Left hand stealing from the right hand.

How much is the proposed IRS enforced fine if a employer does NOT provide health insurance to employees?
