Never in a million years would the republicans deliberately delay the seating because the msm would be howling like banshees.

We are much too polite. Maybe Brown is waiting for his fellow republicans to speak up, OR, he has asked them not create a fuss. After all he does have to be re-elected in two years.

Thanks for the heads up! Happy to hear that Scott Brown will be sworn in on Feb 11th, as it is about time! Especially since former Senator Kennedy was seated the day after his election!

The delay in seating Scott has allowed Kirk to vote to increase the debt ceiling and he has voted on other legislation.

Isn't it interesting they can come up with a connection between BO and Scott Brown from back in 1687, but can't come up with the many answers about BO's past? They can't even find his original birth certificate, or his history as Barry Sortoro!

Scott Brown - country music fan?

Sunday, January 31, 2010 – During Trace Adkins’ set before packed DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., Saturday night, the lanky country singer introduced a celebrity known slightly better for non-country reasons - incoming U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.

Brown, dressed in a shirt and tie, stood up & waved to the crowd drawing cheers after the announcement that he was in the house.

Later, Adkins said that he hoped no one booed when he announced Brown’s presence, threatening to “kick their ass” if they had.

Brown, who upset State Attorney General Martha Coakley almost two weeks ago to replace the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, attended the concert with his daughter, Ayla. She was on American Idol in season four and just released an EP. She also is a senior at Boston College where she is a member of the women’s basketball team.

Brown did not know Adkins prior to the concert, according to his wife, Gail Huff. She said Sunday at Boston College Sunday that Adkins invited her husband to the show. She also described herself as the big country music fan in the family, not her husband. Ayla also has sung country music, but pop is her forte, according to her mother.

Adkins may sing at Brown’s induction party on Feb. 11 according to Huff, although she said that was not certain.

Senator-elect pays a visit
Brown takes his victory lap

###

WORCESTER — Black Sabbath. Montrose and Uriah Heep.

Not only is U.S. Sen.-elect Scott Brown being treated like a rock ’n’ roll star, he has a rock ’n’ roll record collection to boot.

During the “Ten @ Ten” segment on “The Jay Leno Show” on Thursday, Mr. Brown made reference to getting caught shoplifting records when he was 12 at Lechmere in the Middleton-Danvers area.

Facing the judge and being forced to write a 1,500-word essay about his wrongdoing is something he credits for putting young “Downtown Scott Brown” on the right path.

However, Leno didn’t follow up with the obvious question, what were the records you stole? Last night, during his meet-and-greet with supporters at Maxwell-Silverman’s Toolhouse Restaurant, the senator-elect came clean about his rock ’n’ roll taste.

While the strains of the Black Eyed Peas’ “Tonight’s Gonna be a Good Night” were being played during his acceptance speech, on the sidelines, Mr. Brown would probably be more inclined to psyching himself out to Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” if the music of his formative years is any indication.

If his recollection doesn’t escape him, Mr. Brown said he attempted to steal hard-rocking vinyl from Black Sabbath, Montrose and Uriah Heep. When it comes to rock, Mr. Brown is certainly no slouch.

In addition to the rock ’n’ roll creds, Mr. Brown has been a beefcake pin-up, married video femme fatale turned WCVB-TV reporter Gail Huff, and his daughter Ayla Brown made the Top 16 on “American Idol” on season five, the year that gave us Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Elliot Yamin and winner Taylor Hicks.

Prior to her father making his way to the lectern, Ayla Brown sang “Dancing in the Streets.” Afterward, she said how beautiful her mother was in the 1984 video for Digney Fignus’ “The Girl with the Curious Hand” and how it’s uncanny that her mother then looks like her sister, Arianna, now.

In a three-day whirlwind tour of the Bay State, Mr. Brown made the promise to shake hands with everyone who came out during his six stops, including yesterday’s in Worcester. While his comments were brief, the energy in the room was infectious. An estimated 500 came out to see the “rock star” and Cosmo’s “America’s Sexiest Man” (circa 1982) had the crowd swooning.

“Thank you so, so much for coming here. It’s great to be in Worcester,” Mr. Brown said, even though he didn’t win in Worcester. “And I want to thank you all because this was an integral part of the election.”

Mr. Brown humorously referenced the fatherly faux pas he made on election night when he said, “I guess my daughter entertained you. Well. I’m certainly not going to say she’s available tonight,” as well as acknowledged the rowdy chant of “Go Scott Go! Go Scott Go!” by saying, “Obviously, the bar has been opened for a while.”

Rodney Josephson of Barre said Mr. Brown embodies change and has inspired him to run for office, possibly the state Senate. Steve Brady of Shrewsbury said Mr. Brown represents middle America and “rational, commonsense solutions” to some of our country’s problems.

“He represents John Q. Public, the guy who wants to work, have a good dinner on the table, send his kids to school, have his kids do better in life than he did,” Mr. Brady said.

Brown Hires RNC’s Gitcho As Comm. Dir.
January 31, 2010
By Felicia Sonmez

Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R-MA) has hired RNC nat’l press sec. Gail Gitcho as his DC comm. dir., Brown’s office announced today.

Gitcho, like several Brown staffers, including camp comm. dir. Eric Fehrnstrom, is an alum of ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney’s (R) WH ‘08 campaign, where served as a regional press sec. She later served as mid-Atlantic comm. dir. for Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) WH bid.

Gitcho’s move to Brown’s team means the RNC — which today wrapped up its winter meeting in Honolulu — is now left without a top comm. staffer. RNC ex-comm. dir. Trevor Francis was forced out in Nov., and the search for a replacement is over two months long. GOP consultant Alex Castellanos has been serving as an unpaid adviser.

Autograph, please: Fans get down with Scott Brown

So, a talk-show host, a stand-up comic and a rock star walk into a bar . . .

But seriously, folks. Barbara Walters, Steven Sweeney and Sen.-elect Scott Brown all walked into the Comedy Connection at Kowloon yesterday and were mobbed by hundreds of Brown supporters who chanted “Go Scott, Go” and “Thank you, Scott.”

Upstairs, the club was standing room only, and a line snaked down the steps into a banquet hall overflowing with people waiting for their chance to ascend and meet the man who won the Senate seat left vacant by the death of Edward Kennedy.

“Thank you all for coming,” the star senator said. “Thank you for your support.”

Trailed by Walters, who is doing a story on the Bay State phenom for ABC’s “This Week,” Brown spent an hour moving in an abbreviated orbit around the front of the stage, signing autographs and posing for pictures, and posing for pictures, and posing for pictures.

One woman asked him to sign her iPhone, not with a Sharpie, but with his finger on a touch pad that would digitally save his signature for e-posterity.

Someone else passed forward a white leather eyeglass case for a signature, one man got Brown’s mother’s autograph, and a watchful member of the CNN crew pointed out a suspicious-looking man to the Saugus police detail at the event.

The man in question was holding a camera and pointing it directly at Brown. Not all together unusual behavior, but the police thanked the crew for its vigilance.

Not enough Scott Brown to go around

Dave Wedge By Dave Wedge
Sunday, January 31, 2010

Scott Brown’s rise from little-known backbencher to GOP rock star is coming with a hefty list of demands - including a slew of media requests and pleas for endorsements from other Republicans across the country.

Brown aides say the senator-elect has been beseiged with requests from GOP candidates who want the Wrentham Republican to lend a little of his star power to their fledgling campaigns.

Among those who’ve sought Brown’s help are U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk of Illinois, who is running for Senate, as well as statewide candidates in New York, a Brown aide said.

Brown also has been turning down scores of interviews, including requests from Parade magazine, The New York Times [NYT] magazine, People, US Weekly and several international publications.
