Also, when he called it abuse, it wasn’t: IIRC (can’t view YouTube here), that was Bush’s tax cuts. That’s an entirely proper use of reconciliation, which is a limited exception to the filibuster rule SOLELY for “moving levers” on existing programs. So you could change tax rates, reduce appropriations, etc.
But you absolutely cannot create new programs, THEN fund them.

Was waiting for that to be picked up, c’mon folks, I know it’s Fri but...
I tend not to listen to those who’ve already marked themselves as Losers before the fight has even started (ie - drops out for running in 2010 because he knows he can’t win). It tells me the man has NO convictions except money and/or power.
He’s retiring, which means he’s part of the Democrat Party’s new ‘Suicide Bombers’. They’ll vote any way their ethics tell them to and then go have a snack, since they don’t have to answer to constituents, and they know they’ll land fat lobbying contracts in a few short months anyway.
Hell, they may as well make the ‘suicide note’ video, shout ‘Allahu Akhbar’, and then vote for whatever liberty-destroying, high-tax, right-eroding cancerous crap that Pelosi and Reid want to ram down our throat before November.
In fact, they should post those videos to their Senate profile, so when their constituents taxes go up, they know which Senatorial Jihad Johnny dropped the bomb on them.
Again, the speaker is Kent Conrad, not Byron Dorgan. Conrad is not retiring.
