A burglar was shot Tuesday morning by a homeowner in Spartanburg County.
The incident happened at a home at 632 Nodding Hill Road about 9:30 Tuesday morning. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriffs Office, deputies found Rick Clary standing in the driveway of his home, shotgun in hand. Clary told investigators that he was asleep inside the home when he heard the sound of breaking glass. He then said he grabbed his shotgun, went to the backdoor, and saw someone reaching through the broken door window, trying to unlock the door. Clary fired one shot at the suspect, saying he believed he hit the suspect with the shot.
Two suspects fled on foot, but left a car registered to Apple Auto Rental, along with a 9mm pistol. The pistol turned out to be stolen.
Soon afterwards, a 16-year-old male juvenile arrived at a local emergency room, suffering from shotgun wounds to his hand and forearm. Investigators were able to determine that the teen was one of the individuals involved in the break-in. The juvenile, identified as Jamarous Rogers, has been charged as an adult, with one count each of Burglary 1st Degree and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. Investigators are searching for two more suspects.

This is exactly thekind of event obama is working to prevent. a citizen protecting themselves
Jamarous? Must be a good Quaker kid.
Jamarous? Is that Lithuanian?
Sorry he didn't hit any vitals. These "bangers in training" are the worst.
now there is an Amish name if I ever heard one....
Bet you that the fingerprints inside the rental car are a match to some already in the criminal system.
Betcha Betcha.
This is an unfortunate result that could have been easily avoided if the negligent homeowner had loaded buck instead of bird.
Didn’t his mom know that in naming him Jamarous becoming a burglar would be a self-fulfilling prophecy for him?
Why didn’t she name him Thurston B. Howell Rogers, IV instead? That way, he could have been a hedge fund manager or some other titan of commerce.
They have developed uncanny skills at imitating innocent members of other ethnic groups, and many secret codes. E.G. "Jamarous" = Lars. "Antwan" = Ragnar. Insidious.
How nice of the newspaper to put the address so that Jamarus’s angry relatives can come back and get even with the homeowner who shot that “sweet innocent baby who fell in with the wrong crowd.”
Another poor Amish boy who lost his key I guess.
Actually Theotis was just trying to return the homeowners car keys, after making a trip to Walmart to stock up on groceries for the poor man. Yeah. That might work.
Nothing in my home is worth your life.
You have the IKEA store on speed dial.
You think Andy Warhol was an artist.
You are the one that thinks that thick orange shag carpeting is coming back in style.
You think that “modern” style furniture is comfortable.
And, you have the entire black light and lava lamp collection from every head shop in a thousand mile radius.
Your right then, nothing in your house is worth anyone's life....well, maybe the Raquel Welch poster from One Million Years B.C. but other than that you are covered.
Although...although...one niggling thought. The people breaking in had a stolen gun. If you live alone then you can make the call that your life wasn't worth theirs. But what if your wife or kids were home? Would there be something then in your home that you rated higher than the people breaking in? They certainly had no trouble thinking your stuff might well be worth killing for.
Too bad he didn’t use buck or slug.
Next time hopes he empties that and transitions to his pistol.

“Nothing in my home is worth your life”
I never thought about the grammar of that - but I see that you are correct. It perhaps should read “Everything in my home is worth more to me than your life.” or “Nothing in my home is worth anything to you if you are dead”. Makes a heck of a large sign though!
This is a good topic, the bird shot buckshot thing. I am scared to use buckshot because I have kids in the house, I live in a suburban neighborhood. When I was in college in the early 90’s I had a 9 mm hollow point round whip inches away from my head, leaving me with a near death situation. It turned out that a neighbor, a kid like me, whose Dad I knew as the S-3 Major at my Drill unit. But he was showing his mom his new purchase, a 9 mm Barretta. He accidentally discharged it. The round went through 2 of his interior walls, out his external wall, in my external wall, whipped past my head, went through an internal wall, traveled the length of my bed (would have been hit if in bed also), and lodged in the rear exterior wall only after hitting a rock face. So that’s why I don’t use a 9mm for home defense, but instead use a shotgun with bird shot. Buck shot goes through drywall like it’s not even there. I know, it’s a tough one but I don’t want to kill anybody but the perp.
#4 steel buck is a good choice then.
